Why thank you .. problem with having three lads... all of us wanted to play our own individual favourite.. so it either ended in tears or I just got two or three of any game/console * thanks the lord for 'back-ups'...* oh, and the one you 'cant' see in the piccy .. Yes , there IS a '360' in there , too :)

I loved my Amiga. Just the sheer ease of putting a disc in the drive and it loading itself! Awesome!

Favourite games are:

Desert Strike

Chaos Engine 2

Cannon Fodder (particularly if you tell it to create a save disc "I'll have a cup of tea, just pour it into my vents" or "Banana in disc drive error")

Jetstrike AGA

Hunter (although it wouldn't run on the 1200, only ever played it on a mates 500)

Settlers

Frontier: Elite 2 (Stunning game)

I also had an Amstrad CPC464 back in the day. That had some amazing games. One of the best Grand Prix management games ever. And Arkanoid! I'm convinced that loading times would have been much shorter had the game not spent the first 10 minutes drawing a picture, line by line, before it actually got on with loading the game!

The Atari Jaguar is a console I keep meaning to pick up on ebay. Just for one game. Alien vs Predator! Anyone who's played it will know why!

More Amiga goodness

Xenon 2

And Speedball 2

Mr Brum, whats the console with the leaflet on top of it? Can't figure out what it is.

I sold mine on ebay for a tidy profit.

Amazingly you can still get them new

Yeah thats the one. Does it have a cartridge in the back? Don't remember the Saturn having one.

there ya go , fella.. slightly 'clearer' pic of it.. yes its a 'memory expansion ' (so it says on the Cart) ... :D346802t.jpg

I got a second Saturn and a pile of games this week on ebay.

£15 for the lot :D

I'd already got a nice boxed console but only one game so this helps my collection nicely.

Oh , and does anyone else have an original woody Atari?

Ahh Shadow of the Beast. Loved that, even though I never had the Amiga! Always went round to Steph's house every evening on the way back from school for a play.

10 pints please! ;)

Also, for the model b BBC, how come no one's mentioned Elite! ?!? Surely the most impressive piece of programming I can think of. Just think what they were able to do with 32k ?!?

How about a 'Dragon' .. anyone ever have one of them??

Still got mine in the loft.

The best versions of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy were on the dragon - more levels than any other computer.

All this talk of Amiga's has inspired me... not to go up into the loft, as thats far too much effort, but to download WinUAE and get it up and running. I've installed workbench, but its a bit of a bugger getting anything else to work:thumbdwn: And I need a gamepad of some sort really to get everything working right. May have to take a trip to PC World.

The other problem I'm having is actually finding games! There used to be loads of sites, back2theroots was one of them, but they all seem to have either shutdown or stopped actually distributing games. They're all 10 years old+. Surely they should become PD or something after that amount of time!?

Google my friend.. pretty much every game can be downloaded

heres a couple i use: Planet emulation

Dream17 <--- good for Team17 games...

1980's started off with an Oly 8086 and progressed to an Amiga 500+. The graphics were out of this world compared to CGA.

Then got an Amiga 1200 and did lots of publishing work on it but had to take the

print files to work to print them off due to only having a £200 dot matrix printer

(Star?).

Loved playing Project X but never managed to complete it...

The Simpsons was also a good laugh.

I had a Citizen swift 24... colour 24pin dot matrix with a CMYK ribbon

great... except it took about half an hour to do a page in colour

And was it worth it after the ribbon had been used a few times? NO.

For amiga games, just search using google for Amiga ADF.

Did you find, that the ribbon was only really any good for one page. After that the pins tended to get the ribbon dirty and the prints all come out muddy looking.

I'll have to see if I can find any of the Amiga disks that I used to , erm , distribute.

Along with a couple of friends we knocked up a nice animated demo with music and used that as a front end for compilations of games.

We didn't actually have anything to do with cracking them ourselves (far too hard) but weren't above a small amount of piracy.

I used to make the cables that you needed to use with an external floppy drive and X-Copy to duplicate protected disks.
