Settlers 2

EDIT: Gav - I have installed Cannon Fodde ron that old handset of yours - just like the original.

Erm

I bought an A1200 a few years ago, but most of the discs failed to load. I think I probably need to clean the heads.

Is there any way of converting ROM's to Amiga discs so I can play them on the actual machine instead of an Emu?

Yes , it can be done with a floppy drive connected to a PC

I had one of them too... and a acorn electron :D

REPTON :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

And Snapper! Not a clone of PacMan at all!!!

I had a couple of Amigas still got them in the loft

also got an Amstrad CPC 464 up there my dad still uses an Amstrad CPC6128 to do his accounts  as it loads up quicker than a PC

My fav Games was the Little walking Egg with Boxing Gloves

THE DIZZY COLLECTION :D

So many good games , so little time to play them :D , and yes many of the ones I have now have hand written labels on them :)

Remember "It came from the desert" , and "antheads".

I loved them at the time.

Supercars2 was an excellent game , as was Stunt Car Racer , especially when networked.

I probably played Elite more than anything , though populous came close.

It came from the desert is my amiga favourite too, along with secret of monkey island.

If you go to the cinemaware website, you can download it came from the desert for free.

Was that the one with the ants? You also had to play "chicken" with a bunch of thugs in a car.

yes exactly! and the knife fights, escaping from hospital!

Theres videos of it on you tube.

I remember a funny article in AMiga Format magazine:

Sega used to have the slogan "To be this good takes ages" Commodore spotted a great opportunity and had an advert plastered on bill boards around Sega UK with a picture of the CD32 and a slogan "to be this good will take Sega ages"

Another one for the Beeb owners - FRAK!

Oooo yeah.. Flashback and Another World....

Proper scary games

I still have an Amiga 1200HD in the loft somewhere! on the games front, what about Indy 500? I still remember the truly awesome pile-ups you could record and replay at will!!!

I remember when the A1200 came out they kept teasin gus with screenshots of a great looking flight sim called TFX (Tactical fighter experiment) - it never cam out due to technical limitations and IIRC evolved into Eurofighter 2000 on the PC.

I started on a VIC20 with 8K Rampack!

Then went onto a A500 with no external HDD - i so wanted a 200meg one!

Then moved to the great A1200.

Bypassed the A600 - ****e.

Then got a CD32 - which i still have and still works - it is in pristine condition. Only bought it jetstrike :D

Ended up with about 40 games lol.

Great times.

I had a copy of TFX?

Awesome it was.

I guess I was quite lucky our family got into computers quite early although we mainly had z80 powered machines..

we had :-

zx80

Sinclair spectrum (16k version I believe)

48k Spectrum (rubber keyboard type)

128k Spectrum first amstrad type.

128k? Spectrum +2

128k? Spectrum +3a

Sinclair QL with microdrive

Tatung Einstein

Cambridge Z88

comodorre 64

Apple Euro II (still working last time I tried it with 4x5.25" disk drives!)

After that we had PC's and consoles starting off with a 386 when they were new out.

My favourite old school game was definetely the z80 version of Elite - the interface just looked tidier than the bbc version. I still play that game from time to time through emulators. One day they will finally release the MMORPG version that david brabens been promising for the last 10 years....

One of the most impressive of the old type computers to my min was the acorn archimedes with Risc OS in rom I believe and booted so fast compared to windows, far superior in its day. Used to love the lander game for that as well.

Still got my A500, with 10Mb hd and 2Mb memory in the loft. Wing Commander was my favourite!

I've also got a Vic-20 and my hand built (by me!) Acorn Atom up there somewhere. I seem to remember having to solder 130-odd IC sockets onto the board. Not sure my eyesight's up to it these days!
