Trading my expensive to run MB A-Class for a Fabia vRS...

Couple of weeks ago went to test drive a Fabia Comfort diesel to replace a very expensive to run MB A-Class.

Walked past a Fabia vRS on the forecourt in the way into the showroom, thought it must be petrol powered so ignored it, took the lower powered Fabia for a drive and went away to think about options etc. before placing an order.

Just by chance looked on the web for details of the vRS and yippee its an oil burner :-), called the dealer to apologise for messing him round, but could we test drive the vRS, he gave us the keys and told us to take as long as we liked to enjoy the car! My partner soon wanted to take the wheel so I gave in an she had a drive, she pulled over into a farm track a couple of miles up the road and announced that we would be having a vRS, and when her car comes ready to change I can get one also!

So once the MB is back from the dealer we can pick up our new Fabia vRS and start arguing about who drives it!

I just hope the dealer / manufacturer experience is better than MB, when I have time I will detail the problems we have had with the A-Class. The guy on here who had a couple of Minis had no problems compared to our A-Class :- (

Dave

PS the Fabia vRS we test drove had done 5500 miles so we could give it a bit of boot ;-)

The MB experience is not very pleasent. I went from a C class to octy vrs, and skoda customer service and dealers knock MB for six. We have A MB vito van as well, this broke down last week and the dealer would not even look at it the same day. it is currently still broken 1 week later.

Hello

Welcome to the forum

I saw you pop into #briskoda last night. You should have talked about the test drive as it sounded like a lot of fun (well, apart from the arguing about who drives - you should have done rock, paper, scissors like on the Laguna advert. :D)

You've made a good choice and welcome to the site  The Fabia is (from what i've heard about the A Class) a much better built car, and it has not had stability problems like the A Class or the Smart car.

'ello mate - Have Fabia vRS now (highly recommended) and amongst my previous car choices I did have a MB A-class 170CDI at one time. Fast and economical, but PAS failed twice, dealer couldn't find the problem, and like Wayne with his MINI I felt like a second-class citizen as the A-Class isn't worth much to them! A-Class build quality certainly isn't S-Class quality - looking at the real user reviews I was lucky to only have the PAS fail.

Lightspeed Skoda in Huddersfield have given me top service so far, just covered 1000 miles and haven't needed to contact them since driving away - NO niggles!

Enjoy the motor!

Thanks for the warm welcome...

Good to chat to a couple of you on the irc channel

All I have to do now is wait until I get the MB back before collecting the new Fabia vRS which is sitting registered waiting for me :-( If I had know MB were going to drag their heels I would have waited and got it register as an "04" in a few days time.

I want it now, I have loads of places to go (or at least I will have ;-) )

Been there Mk1 Mexico and GP1 Flat Front RS2000, Talbot Sunbeam TI and Vauxhall Firenza 2.3

But don't think any were as much fun as the vRS, maybe the Sunbeam Ti.

I would love a concours Mk1 TC or RS1600
