RANT!!Debating Skoda again....potential rip off

Featured Replies

I have bought at least 6 cars from my local Skoda dealer, 4 Skoda and 2 non Skud.

My current two are an Octavia 2 and a Superb 2.5TDI Comfort...if you didnt know.

This is going to sound like a rant. I bought my Superb in October last year with a 6 month warranty for parts and labour and SWMBO Octavia manufacturers warranty runs out in December this year.

I had a moan a while back about the price of an oil and filter change on our Octy 2 being £185 for an oil and filter change, then another thread about the Octys steering being harder than of late.

Got it to the dealer today after a two week wait...bearing in mind I have two children under two that travel in both cars, to find that the free courtesy cars now have a £10 waiver. I was lead to believe that this meant if I crashed the loan car I'd lose my tenner.....no the explanation I got when I asked for my tenner back was " Well our insurance is so high now we've got to charge it Paul"..loss of £10

Is that my problem??? I paid £10 for a 1.2 Fabia to drive no more than 4 miles...should've got a taxi.

The steering problem was in my head and SWMBO's apparantly. The car is in good working order no steering problem....OK fine I said feeling it difficult to judge as I drive the Superb as well I felt the steering may be lighter on it as its bigger...I just wanted to know the car was safe to drive with two small kiddies...Fair point??

I then Iasked about BOTH my broken ashtrays that I was promised would be replaced rthe day I bought the car (the Superb) and could they get them for me..Superb is still in warranty, parts bloke looked for two seconds then said, "Give me your reg number and I'll see what I can do". I said how will you contact me as he was saying "ta ta" so he took my number.

Bear in mind I've had the same fob off twice now since buying it.

So to sum it up we've bought 6 cars, use them for servicing and MOT. Since buying these previous two, I've been called more or less paranoid for an imaginary steering problem, charged **** loads for an oil and filter changed, charged £10 to borrow a car...labelled courtesy car!!! for a few miles and then three times fobbed off about a common fault they've never heard of.

Do you get the impression Skoda are becoming less desirable...I am and I love these cars, but, its lining their pockets...heavily, I'm sure others here feel this too, its putting me off Skoda now or at least going independant, it seems loyalty here means nothing....

Any opinions on this or am I being tight????

where is the dealer you using.please name & shame

the £10 was for their insurance, yes.

you could have just rung your insurance company?

£185 for an oil and filter change is about right from a dealer.

if you want to pay less, use an independant garage, or do it yourself. that's the long and the short of it really. if you value the Skoda stamp in the book, pay the money, if you don't pay less for someone else to do the same job.

Great so its like them paying me £10 for my petrol to get it to their garage! They never done it until recently.....cant see this going down well...its b******s really

when my Lupo was in at VW, I had a choice; insure the courtesy car with them for a £10 charge, or put it on my own

I wasnt given an option Babs...otherwise I'd have happily put it on my own. Wasnt told it was non refundable when I booked it in either

luckily, I dealt with a fairly spot-on service receptionist!

I was dealing with a bloke that used to work for a Seat dealer I knew from my Leon Cupra days...no sense of humour and patronising to the point you want to chin the fecker, part time and nowt else to do:mad:

At the time I just wanted to see my tenner back..lol!!!!

oil & filter change in Oct vRS = £89.00 at a main dealer.....well that was what I paid anyway.

Thats more like it...cheers Lance

Shame you live so far away, Lil ;) dunno how much it would cost to 'courier' the Big Stick down to you .. :(

My brother has one of those twin cab truck thingys and was charged around the £200 mark for a oil change............his words to the bloke on the desk were, and I quote " what did you have to do, drill for the ****!ng oil". I almost pi$$ed myself laughing.

As I havent got "the stick" I was thinking of maybe using the umbrella concealed in the back door of the Superb...but if I bust it , it will cost me near on £40 to replace:O...see what I mean!!

Good point Shifty..think mine would charge £15...had'nt thought of that, however if I'd known about this charge properly I would have driven £200 to get my tenners worth

Sadly, your location means they have a more captive market, but if you're ever on the mainland, I never had to pay for a courtesy car at either Winchester Motor Company or Freeborn.

Is the Octy 2 on variable servicing? If it is then

no sense of humour and patronising to the point you want to chin the fecker, part time and nowt else to do:mad:

My thoughts exactly. ;)

Wasted fuel getting to dealer

Maybe we should've taken a trip there when you all came over ;)
