Drove and handled great, better than my old mk1 it seems and thats saying something.Only drawback got to wait till March 6 to get car as private plate needs changing over and the usual boring paperwork needs doing.

If 'stealth' is your game then Black or Silver; if you want to make a statement then Race Blue or Coridda Red; if you want to say 'look at me' then Sprint Yellow'.

For a colour that hides the dirt get Silver; if you want to be cleaning your car daily get Black or Yellow; good mid way choice Red or Blue.

My choice; Red and the £300 you save on it not being mettalic put toward the B14 18" alloys!!!

PS> Argh - just realised I'm too late with my advice; still sound like you have a cracking car - ENJOY it.

Agree with the common thread. When the pics first came out I was dead set on going for the Race Blue - but when it came to signing on the dotted line I ended up playing safe (and appeasing the wife) by going for black. But hell is it difficult to keep clean? It's been cleaned 3 times in 4 weeks.

I've also had a couple of quite noticable stone chips in just 2000 miles. My last MK1 black magic 130PD L&K didn't show them up nearly as badly. Has the paint quality changed between series or is it just because the MK2 has a more blunt, higher nose?

Has anyone else experienced excessive stone chipping with the MK2?

I know a Black one which is quite badly stone chipped, my Race Blue has a few already as well. It doesn't take much.

But black will be easier to repair than race blue to the average man?

Mine got stone chipped quite badly from new but this has stopped and I rarely see new ones appearing.

Could be down to the paint being a bit "soft" maybe.

Subjective comment I feel.

I just know from experience that I can make a good repair to black paint. Race

blue would be another story....

Half blue and half black?

Half blue and half black?

I just know that repair to black paint will not show up like it will on race blue

for the average guy :)

Its a no brainer. Black looks good, but in terms of durability and cleaning Blue is the better alternative. Try rinsing and drying a black car in warm weather.

Oh Yes and...'Be safe - Be seen!'
