Ireland WRC November 2007

Featured Replies

All,

Myself and a couple of friends are planning on going to Ireland in November to watch a decent Tarmac WRC event, and Briskodians planning on going?

Might be nice to have a bit of a Forum weekend away.

Make a change from getting covered in mud on a welsh hill side!!!!

Steve.

No doubt there will be some of the Irish Briskoda members knocking about, might even make it up myself for a day.

There maybe a couple of us knocking around alright. I feel that there'll be a massive crowd around making like hard to get around. Should be an excellent entry, ya know yourself the amount of WRC cars over here. Give us a shout closer to the time

Btw Have you accomodation booked ? and roughly where are you looking at staying ?

Pacenotes rally newspaper team will be at the event four team members have a Fabia Vrs each.. A very very good rally event also I hear its FREE entry into the stages. For anybody wanting to see a WRC round go to Rally Ireland you know it makes sence and it will be cheaper than rally GB..

How much we talking here?

Hoping to go across as well. Maybe to marshal, maybe to spectate.

However with my committments on WRGB a short time after, Im not sure if I will be able to spare the time.

I've seen 1 or 2 alright, never met the owners though...maybe have to meet up. Come to think of it, thats probably more Fabia vRS than down South (they never really took off down here, maybe its the VRT)

Any idea approx where the stages will be ? eg is it the same as last years event. Its hard for anyone to make accomodation arrangements without having some idea of this. In a way I hope there not the same as the Sunday stages of last year, very restrictive, hence the reason we went home that day.

also I hear its FREE entry into the stages. ..

Will there be a SS in St Angelos, I'd imagine this will be Pay only

Hi Gaff

SS in St Angelo as you say might be pay only because of the side shows etc and a service area but that might change to free entry..I think the rallyroute might stiill follow the same as the last two years with a few new stages thrown in. As getting acommadation in Sligo town well thats another story. Stayed in Rally HQ in Sligo a very nice hotel for an ex mental hospital...Its also about time Ireland had a chance to show case to the world its own WRC as you know Ireland is a great country for rallying I hope the rallying world comes and enjoys this great event and the crac that goes hand in hand..

IS THIS A PLAN FORMING? [ mini national meet? ] :D

Sounds like a few people would be interested alright. My biggest problem will be holidays, I'm due to work that weekend (and will really need to wait until after wedding to see how much holidays I've left).

But I'm sure that would stop others from meeting up :)

I'm thinking of going, not been to a tarmac rally since San Remo a few years back. Irish rallies always look great fun so I think this will be a great addition to the calendar.

Morning All,

There seems to be quite a bit of interst in going over to the Iris WRC so I will start to look into ferry prices, accomodation etc and get back to this thread.

The more the merrier I say.

If any of you have any ideas or prior knowledge of where to stay or good vantage points to visit then please let us all know.

I know its months away but its gonna fill up quickly, so we have to be on the ball.

P.S. I think it might be a bit cold for camping......!!!!!!!!!!

See, Rally Ireland - - Jordan and Ringland on Board for Rally Ireland

Jordan Grand Prix founder Eddie Jordan and former rugby international Trevor Ringland have been appointed as Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Rally Ireland Management Ltd, the promoters of the Irish round of the World Rally Championships which will take place in November this year.

Last year the rally was based around Sligo/Manorhamilton area, I dunno if this link will work right Map of Manorhamilton, Leitrim IE by MapQuest, Sligo is to the West and Enniskillen to the East.

I'd say if you got staying somewhere between Enniskillen & Sligo with manorhamilton being a centre point you'll be doing well.

I'll be out there for the rally.

If you are going then get numbers asap go for sligo town for base as its HQ town for the rally also the side shows are very very very good (ie the pubs etc etc etc). need to book soon as though..

I'd love to go watch, but the price of a ferry is steep IMO.

Cheaper to drive down to Monte Carlo :(

Rumour had it a while back that all hotels in Sligo were booked out, maybe trying to inflate the prices

Accomodation is hard to book but as I'm out there to work we're sorted but no idea what the plan is yet.
