Falken GRB FK 451 tyres

Featured Replies

Anyone used Falken GRB FK 451 tyres. ?

If so, can you recommend them ?

Jules

FK451s are alright, but the tyres you're really looking for from Falken are the ST115 series.

I had falken Fk 451 on my fabia, size 225/35 17, great tires, handling was amazing and braking in straight line was the best thing about them, used them till they wore out and they still handled great..

I would recommend them, but you wont find them anymore, coz they're replaced with the newer model, Falken FK452, right now im using the new FK452 on my car size 205/40, and the handling is so much better than the older model, They grip like anything you jus get lots n lots of grip and then you get a slight oversteer to tell u tht ur on the limit..

Very comfortable due to soft sidewalls, they're not noisy at all, and they're great value for money..

Recommended, you can also read some more reviews about them, everyone is happy!!

I also put the FK-452's on my car and compared to the Conti's and Michelin Primacy's they are leaps and bounds ahead (and I've not even scrubbed them in yet!). Bang for buck, I think they'd be hard to beat :D

I can also take people like kings now too

I personally think they have very stiff sidewalls and the tyres themselves feel quite hard/firm through the wheel. Maybe it will change as they scrub in?

Chris

My 452s on the Octavia have very strong sidewalls - they are a 94 load rating so must be pretty stiff :)

I quite like them. I have 451s on the 928 and I think they grip better in the dry, but they're quite soft and don't last all that long.

The Fk451's dont last for too long, thats true,

As for the sidewall thing, i think that the 452's r softer than the 451's.. my car rides much better on the 452's regadless of the extreme low profile i had on my 451's..

wut i hated about the 451's though is that they never squeal no matter how hard u try

I had a set of Falkens a while ago; they're cheap and great to start with but after some 10,000 whilst only being about half worn the wet grip went right off!

First impressions after 1000 miles are very good. Have perceived some drop in road noise from the original conti's. Certainly good in the wet. Cannot comment on longevity for obvious reasons. Very good vfm.

I found the 451's to have a stiff tyre wall. So stiff you can run them flat.

Personally I woulnd buy them again.

Try the 452's for next time, They're a kind of improved 451's,

But be aware though, there's a bit of difference between both tires, 452's are wider than 451's, for example 225/40 452 is almost like a 235/40 451 tire..

I was told a long time ago the 451 had the same compound as the toyo t1's.

That would be good wouldn't it?

Well it is a good thing, I had 225 451's and the 205 452's are almost as wide

How can that be?? surley 225 means 225mm wide and the 205 is 205mm wide???

It doesnt have to be true, Check this out

I agree that thread does make it look suspect, but if I buy 205 tyres, i expect 205mm to be in contact with the ground, otherwise they are going against the convension of tyre width measurment.

I'd be rather upset if i bought a set of 215's and they ripped my arches off when the previous set I ran were fine

Well its not only the thing with that tire only, Lots of tires might have a sligh difference in width for the same size

Thats a given, the shoulder shape is mostly the difference, but 1.5" quoted in that thread takes a 205 to a 255
