Looks like a nice clean car, and they have binned the mats. Can't quite make out

the lettering on the hatch below the badge.

I noticed that - I think its the Ebay seller's web address - its also on the bottom of the number plate.

Yeah, looks like a good deal potentially!

Looks like www.thecarwarehouse.co.uk

 the only thing that bothers me is the use of genuine ford parts

The lettering is whats on the reg plate IE dealer advertisement and that would annoy me alot, and yea it does seem to say the address mentioned above.

Mine had the advertising too, but they are only stickers and I removed them at a petrol garage about 2 miles after I collected it!

Yup thats good!, My mate brought a VRS off Ebay and it also had stickers on it however when he removed them he also removed the paint:mad: but if they peel off easy sweet

The genuine ford parts was a concern too. Advertised as a 53 plate, I'm sure that the 52 in the middle of the plate makes it a 52.

No, it's advertised as a 2003 car, and the first registration date of January 2003 backs that up. Remember, the 5x plate crosses into the next year, October-February or something?

The 'genuine Ford parts' worried me too!

Edit: Never mind, I missed the '53-Registration' thing that turns it into misleading advertising.

I said on the other thread that I/we would consider an ex Police vehicle. I have since changed my mind, there is no way I would have one now.

Just buy it and then when you pick it up point out the discrepancy and he'll refund your travel costs for mis-describing it :D

If you believe this vehicle was misdescribed in any way i would refund your travel costs

Why are you worried about use of genuine parts? The auction is clearly a standard one he modifies for different cars, and just hasn't ammended the manufacturer.

I have a 02 plate vrs ex cop car with 59,000 on. My boss brought it with 4,000 miles on when the police had written it off in a car chase. He repaired it and ran it for a few years. I brought it off him.

I've just had a full service done, cam belt the lot. Also new brakes/pads all round. Also got a set of alloys from a 55plate vrs (my next door neighbour breaks audi's for a living)

I have to say it is a great car and drives spot on. Don't beleive all the bad press about crashed cars / police cars. Go and have a look, take someone who knows a little about cars, check its all ok and save a lot of money.

I'm not believing all the bad press. The way they are driven is coming from horses mouths so to speak :)

again i find this hard. Yes they are driven hard but i bet most vrs are just like most hot hatches.

As long as they are well serviced, allowed to warm up before hammer, and the replacement of parts when they wear out; this is not really a problem. People worry to much about modern cars.

IMO they are a massed produced iteam. Most things can be un-bolted and a new one bolted on with very little fuss. The german electrics on the whole are superb.

The only real pain is when work is required on the internals of the engine. But again this even with a hard life engine is becoming less of a problem enhancments in the machining of parts mean they tend to last longer.

The only thing i do believe in is using very good oil. I think dealer service historys are a load of crap. Give me a car serviced by a local garage where the owner knows the mechanic anyday.

PHEEWW RANT OVER:)

The 18T engine is a master piece of engineering and if serviced correctly should

last well. My car has done just over 40K and has not used any oil in the last 6K.

I doubt if my next vRS can match that!

Mine is on 108k miles and is now remapped. I bought it after 89k police miles and it doesnt use a drop of oil between services and I dont drive it very forgivingly.

allowed to warm up before hammer

This is the problem imo, one minute the car is sat there minding it's own business and the next a call comes on the radio to attend an RTI (or RTC if you watch Hot fuzz ;) ) The car then goes from cold to flat out.

The response drivers I have chatted with about this tell me exactly how they drive the unmarked Octy, and how they wouldn't own an ex Police vehicle.

This is what's changed my mind.

Id have to agree, a bit of a bully gamble ;)

yep totally agree with this,i was chatting to a response driver saturday night as he uses a vrs and was told by him to NEVER buy one of their old cars as he openly admits to abusing it as much as possible, never allowing it to warm up or cool down.he said that buying an ex police car is just asking for trouble as they have could not care less how they treat them.

The same could be said for ex hire cars and ex company cars but people still buy them. Price anything keenly enough and you will tap into a market.

Take my case for example, I had £5k to spend and wanted a vrs. All that was available at that price in the usual places was either very high mileage 3+ owner cars or V-car registered damaged repaired / stolen recovered. An ex police car came along - one owner, full history, only ever genuine parts fitted, it was serviced, checked and MOT'd prior to being de-commisioned and was within budget. 20000 trouble free miles later I am still chuffed to bits with it and would definately consider buying another.

Sold for

well everyone seems to have differnet views on this.

i'm not happy with a car unless i know its been after a stolen metro down a back road! Calling all cars . . . . . . Calling all cars. lol :D
