Featured Replies

Hi all

I have just got aFabia comfort 1.4 MPi 2001 (great car) and was interested to know if it is easy and reliable to fit a remote central locking system

Any advice would be great

You can get retro-fitted central locking fitted no problem, however you would have a key fob and a central locking fob, i.e. it isn't possible to integrate with the skoda key.

Cost: ~

My 1.9SDi came with a retro fit central locking installed - the key has the buttons to lock or unlock the door.

Don't know the price but the skoda website accessories page should give you some sort of idea :)

Unless you have very deep pockets I wouldn't go for the retrofit skoda remote central locking. The parts are

I fitted a Sparkrite car alarm to my year 2000 1.9sdi . I also fitted a Sparkrite Central Locking Interface ,and a non Skoda Central Locking system (4 motors to 4 doors). With the press of the button on the supplied fob ,I can turn the alarm on , opening the doors at the same time, pressing the fob button again ,turns the alarm off ,and unlocks the doors. The door motors are tricky to fit ,and connecting the system to 12 volts in also fussy, otherwise the doors will unlock or lock on there own etc. Even Sparkrite were unable to help, because I have an Electronic background , I was able to solve problem.

So if you buy a univeral remote central locking kit you have to get the new fobs chiped with the central locking already in the car??

The universal Central Locking Kit when fitted alone just enables all the doors to be unlocked by using the door key (no electronics) only. I fitted a Sparkrite Alarm ,which has 2 remote control fobs to operate. The Sparkrite Central locking Interface is fitted which allows the remote control fobs to open /close all doors, and turn on/off the alarm at the same time. As it is not have a connection with the SKoda fault diagnosis system, faultfinding is harder, but if you fitted the system you will know where to start looking.

Dealer fitted remote central locking to my Fabia about 6 months ago for

Why has your Fabia not got remote central locking as standard? My 2000 model Comfort 1.4 Mpi has this , with the buttons on the flick key , I thought this was standard issue on all but the Classic??

Not sure why, but that is odd, is there any dif in fabia sold in the UK and Ireland, that might be it, i got mine in ireland

setsquare - was that to install the central locking kit and the remote capability or just to upgrade the existing central locking to have remote capability?

pitty it would have saved me the bother

Hi

I had the same problem and installed a META System central remote locking unit model HPA 3.5, very cheap and reliable...I think going for integrated locking in the key is a nightmare since you would have to go for changing the electronic processor (which is most probably not available in your car right now), wiring, etc... this is going to cost you arround 900 or more.

Cheers i thinl am going to try something like that

What make of central locking kit did you get - was looking at a Maplin one - can't find anyothers on the net, with a keyloq 3 button TX and RX - remote self learning - electronics, like you no problem --only problem is finding a semi decent lock kit .

Well got a reply from Skoda , finally - their kit only does doors - anyone know if there's a kit out that handles unlocking of the rear hatch??( or do the central locked Fabias have this option ??)

It should do the boot as well

Mine is the skoda standard central locking kit - and it unlocks everything (4 doors and boot lid)

And as it was fitted at a later date it should be the same ;)

Might well be the difference - mine's the hatch, not the estate -still looking for a suitable kit -must be someone who does a remote kit ,for furby at a decent price (stealer now 126+fitting)

Hi, are u wanting to fit a retro kit...there are some out there that do all 4 doors and boot, providing the boot has the central locking unit fitted ( i have a classic 2000 model and doesnt have said boot lock).

I purchased a retro kit of ebay and finished fitting this weekend ( mine didnt have C/L at all) easy enough to fit. If you need help with this type then give me a shout cos i could give pointers.

I purchased a TJJ 2088 kit. Excellent for the price and the actuators are very solid.

Spevie ( i did a post earlier about it)

Looking to fit to 4 doors and rear hatch - skoda kit (so skoda tell me) only does 4 doors @126 - but butts do same kit for 79 +p&p .Found another kit at 44( 2 door ) and good old maplin does one at 21+ about 10 for the extra actuator. Most of these kits i suspect are key operated - but keyloq the necessary quite cheap.

Don't want to get kit and suddenly find it either has actuator for rear -but wrong type or only for doors and don't do rear - suspect rear hatch is cable operated (from driver side door)

Can you let me have details of stockists etc
