shell v-power?

Featured Replies

Has anyone tried or know anyone who uses the diesel equivalent?

I have used a few tankfulls of the diesel. It did not make any perceptible difference to the performance, however, it did run smoother. Fuel economy, not run it long enough to be certain, but possibly 1-2mpg improvement. Better to run normal diesel extra and add Millers Powersport 4 IMO. Same or more effect, half or less the cost.

Ran v-power and Millers together, lost a tiny bit of top end power. Subtle differences only though.

I usually run Total Excellium 97 as its near to work, other than that it's Tesco 99. I must say i have tried Shell V Power and have noticed the difference straight away but this could just be me being a bit more heavy on the right foot.

ian :D

I assume the excellium unleaded is Ok - again I'm right near a garage but need to travel to get tesco which kind of negates any cost savings!

cant help but wonder if this is just in our heads rather than any actual noticable difference.

Food for thought

I used to fill my old Octy up with 95RON and it ran OK, but it used to love Tesco 99RON and Sainsbury's 97RON. There was a definite difference in performance.

My Mazda will only accept 98RON and above, so I been exlusively using V power since I bought it. I tried one tank of Tesco 99 RON and I'd swear there was a slight improvement, and in other news, the emporer has new clothes!

So if V-power in Ireland isnt 98 RON WTF is in it?????cause it Run's smother on it and picks up Quicker!!!!!!

And i just looked on Shells Web site...and in Ireland they say it 98...but then in the FAQ it says its 95RON.....WTF???????

I've recently started using standard unleaded again and have noticed an increase in mpg compared with V-Power. The car performance feels the same on either fuel.

97p a litre for V-Power is good value. I pay

There's definitely something different in it. When I first got my car remapped at Jabba, Mike wsa puzzled but the fuel as it wasn't 95 and not 97 ron fuel, but somewhere in between.

Recently I'ce had to go back to standard Esso 95ron over here in Ireland. After about 5-6 tank fulls the car is not struggling with the power, not as smooth as it used to be. When I had the V-Power, it was always happy and had a smooth power output.

I've been recommended Broquet Pellets. Anyone on here ever use them?

Cheers BPM......have to get to the Bottom of this one i just bought Octane additve(NOS stuff) see how it goes will report back.....iv herd of those pellets alright but have never used them....some of the lads on here Have i seen a thread on them somewere

Has anybody used this fuel on there car?ive just put some in my vrs today its a bit expensive at 97p per ltr but ive heard its good do you get more power and more mpg out of it??

Use it all the time with great results, but at 1.02p.................!! Never mind not much more over 95 RON on a tank............and think of the good its doing to your engine..........

And then those moments you want to make progress :D

I try to stick to the good stuff whenever I can, either V-Power or Ultimate, I guess I could try the TESCO stuff and grab the points for it, have one just down the road in Formby.

I solely use V-power for the best performance, especially after the remap.

Hi BTW countstex.

Cheers LL, you're PM box is full BTW, so I can't sent another reply! ;)

Shell V-power always!

Tesco was good when I tried It.

BP Ultimate diffinately lost power and so expensive.

this is quite intresting as I have noticed that on standard sainsburys / bp fuel that mine seems to be running a bit better and more fuel efficent

having just come back from a weekend in the lake and doing a briskoda gathering it has averaged 37.00 to the gallon!

not sure what is in it or if the garage that I uses shifts so much that it is super fresh fuel?

my car wont move without v-power, 102p in london aswell.

always found BP ultimate over priced and poor running in my old cars compared to tescos 99ron and V-Power. haven't had my oct long enough to tell though yet. 102ppl for optimax here though. but its worth it!

V power is 98.9p near to me. Didn't notice any improvement over 95 and maybe a a little dip in mpg.

Tesco 99RON did seem to give the car a bit more power and mpg was maybe up a little (possibly I was a bit more conscious of the throttle).

Tesco 99RON is 96.9p at my nearest garage but that's about 17 miles away. I'll fill it with 99 if I'm passing but otherwise it'll be 91.9p 95RON Shell from the local.

I only ever use standard 95 RON from BP, Sainsbury's or Shell.

I was going to post a thread about 97/98/99 RON fuel but as its kind of on topic I might as well ask the question here.

I know that the book power of a mk1 vRS is 180bhp which I believe is based on using 98RON? Just wondering what the output would be on a standard car running on 95 RON assuming the car was completely healthy and running as it should?
