if you change the box on the tav it will kill an m3... we have seen 185+ from one already... in northern france..... :rofl:

OK, ignoring that *slight* contradiction there, I'd say that if BMW couldn't produce a slightly faster car for double the price then they wouldn't be in business.

which part of change the box are we struggling with? std box will hit limiter in top @ 171.

our small handed test pilot has been beyond this in the modded box with thelonger 5th... but cant do this with a wrc wing on ... too much drag.

200 is theoretically possible... but the car is not aerodynamically stable beyond 180... ...at the mo...

Get a Octy 4x4 -- bin the engine, put in a 225BHP TT version.. with a bigger turbo,, etc etc.... get around 500bhp... ... Q car looks and bye bye M3...

if was only ythat easy... the 4x4 drive train would require a lot of investment to take the power... and would compromise power to weight dramatically.

hang on we had the video the other day of a supercharged saxo beating an m3 down the strip so why cant the tavia beat one when its had a power hike ??

Dogmaul we are talking about a car that is a good 300kg heavier and with only 260bhp that's why.

We are discussing how to mod a skud to beat an M3, the fact that we got to:

It's not that hard to do from stock led to a top trumps moment.

But...a Paul, Ian and others have said, sometimes it's not down to figures. A drag racer, hell even a NOS scooter would beat some exotcis down a strip..the NOS scooter is serious btw, use search ;). The fact is what do you NEED to do to get close to beating an M3, beat...thats figures, PTWR, Drag, Circuit (small and large), Cost. Thats to beat, it needs to achive more wins than losses.

PTWR, modified skud would win.

Drag, M3

Figures, no bloody idea, draw.

Circuit Small, Skud

Circuit Power(large) M3

Cost, should be Skud.

so Skud wins just, maybe a gentlemans draw...but it would not take much to make eitehr beat each otehr, the only KEY is COST.

Err nope I don't own or know someone with an M3 but I know when someone is spouting. :rofl:

i think i know where your going with this.. but till i hit the rollers next month i cant answer.

As an ex M3 (admittedly e36) owner and having been in an E46.. i am confident of truimph around brunters ... as for silverstone... i would be fairly confident of defeat.. find the same with my 911... down the back roads Ian can easily follow me in the RS to the point of pushing me .... but on a dual carriagway/ motorway the 911 says bye bye..

and at 1380kg with rwd and 320hp its not too dissimilar to the m3.... (apart from in style and noise)

OK, let's get this clear, I am allowed to modify the Octavia, but not the M3. What sort of competition are we talking about? Let's say one lap of the Ring, same driver in each car. So what would you need on the Octavia?

P Zero Corsas on 18s

AP 330mm 6 pots

Lighten the car

approx 250-300bhp would suffice

So you are looking at a car that costs

If you are talking no hold barred drag strip action, which I don't like, why not: convert the Octy to RWD (fairly easy if you do side mount exhausts) fit a small block chevvy engine and a 250 shot of NoS. Would eat the M3 alive.

Why do I get a faint whif of petrol when I read this...might it be in the Tavia box of researched :D

I have seen the NOS scooter in action - Hilarious !! :rofl:

All I would need to give an M3 a run for it's money is a quality sound install (which I've just completed) and some good tunes - so beware you M3 drivers I've just bought Peter Andres latest and I'm unbeatable !!!
