m3 beating skud (how would you make yours?)

Featured Replies

A quick question... how would you make your m3 beating octy/fab ?

consider the m3 costs around 40k...

would love to see the look on the m3 owners face when taken by a skud :)

all entries welcome...

There was a silver one at Bruntingthorpe the last time I was there, not a happy bunny by the look on his face.

m3's are they those mobile chicane things on trackdays....?

Ahh, but you don't NEED to beat an M3. It's all about psychology...

You simply pass one and sit in front doing exactly whatever the posted speed limit is, and allow the M3 driver a good look at the yellow Hi-Vis Jacket you carelessly left over the rear centre head-rest..

For some reason, it renders M3's incapable of overtaking

This works particularly well in North Wales when heading towards Anglesey..

Cant dahlback racing tune the 1.8t to 550bhp?

Personally id get:

jabba ihi stage 3 turbo conversion

jabba remap

abd big bore inlet pipe

carbonio air intake

bailey dv

boost controller

twin piper race cams

abd intercooler

lightened clutch/flywheel

s3 gearbox

powergasket

full impreziv exhaust system

bigger injectors on fuel rail

Nitrous oxide on 100bhp jets

Forged steel pistons

But seriously though im not going to tune the octavia more than 300bhp, there will be too much torque steer and being fwd it would be too powerful for its own good.

In a couple of years I wouldnt mind a saleen mustang or a r34 skyline.

Does anyone have more info on the Riechert Racing Octavia?

I'm with Des and Paul on this one, why not pick on something that will give you a run? :D

I didnt think much of the M3 until I saw Gerry Mahoney in the one on the Cannonball & that reinforced one point, its a seriously quick car in the hands of a profesional driver. In the hands of Mr averages like us its a squirt, slide, drift, spin, slow car. (did I say posers car)

Any car can be quick when driven by a good/talented driver. Stuart is right, most are driven by posseurs (or should that p be a t?) who wouldn't know car control if it came up and bit them on the backside, in which case a modded Octavia should be able to give one a run for its money. The other points to bear in mind are local knowledge and how brave you are feeling, wrapping a 14k Octy round something is different to doing the same to a 40k M3.

Simple !

Give him the wrong directions to the golf club when he leaves the estate agents weekly lunch!

After my initial flippant/stereotypical BMWdespiser hat response. I realised that this is actually quite a serious question for Vrs owners (petrol!) as the bar room bench mark is the BuMfree . (My accountant has just bought one having sold his Renault Scenic ,Honestly ! I fear that he tinks Sport Mode is a type of hat choice )

Clearly the 0-100kph dash is out of the question with launch control RWD and high bhp/torque ratios all a Vrs can do is scrabble and burn rubber.

However from c30-120 may be a different issue ( normal? road/track speeds) has any one got (the old chesnut ), reliable figures for 250+bhp scuds in this area its my betting that this would be a close run thing.

I agree that the driver variable is a critical issue but anyone who has driven a hot BMW in extremis will have had 'oh sheet!' moments.

Then of course top speed , again I would guess that a lowered 250+ scud should get just above 155mph just as his yellow light comes on! waves bye bye doing 3mph more!

m3's seem to do 160... octys will hit 171 with std box.

round uk short track the octy will will.. round the ring the m3 will win assuming driver proficient.

Even better! Waves Bye Bye doing 11mph more.

Good Stuff Paul

Tony, Skoda do launch control, its called 4x4

I thought that was lunch control..... to accelerate gently and not spill strawberry milk shakes!

I can't believe people think they will ever get close to a 342bhp monster like an M3.

For the record an unrestricted M3 will see 185mph+

Yes the M3 is restricted when it comes off the forecourt and even in this form will do a 5 sec 0-60.

Yeah, I had heard that 4x4 owners were "partial to a bit of sausage"... :D

Curse You Unbeliever !!

Do the maths 1530 kg 342bhp c310 lb ft ( ancient units for the unconverted)

Achievable 1300kg 250bhp 300+ lb ft its very close !!!

Fudge Factor Ratio BMW 1530/ 342/310 /2 = 4.6

Tuned Light Vrs 1300/ 250/300/2 = 4.7

or go for 1100kg 260bhp for now... 260 torque.. slicks and wings... all for well under 20k.....

even a slightly camp 4x4 pilot can overtake a 911 GT3 in that.... (look behind wheel of octy on front page for a clue....)(but dont look into his eyes)

300nm's not 300ftlb's. There is a considerable difference

good job doing the head port on mine will take it to 300/300 and we do mean lb not nm.

:rofl::rofl:

next you will be telling us that bikes are not :gay: :rofl:

I back up what Paul says, but only cos it polishes my ego... ;)

Is all down to pilot, seen "average" cars on track beat far quicker ones, often same on road, driven with people with far more bhp and better setup cars, and yet been far quicker.

Hell, even a 320bhp porsche can't shake a 260bhp skoda if there is a difference in driving ability...

:duck:

OK slight fag packet backism

But if you take Pauls 1100 /260 that brings it down into 4.3s that is seriously quick!

it's a good job you don't result to personal insult is it !

Yes yes whatever :finger:

If all things being equal then the M3 gets derestricted, the M3 WILL kill the Tava even in standard form.
