Rate of Changing Your Car

Featured Replies

It's long been a standing joke amongst my family and friends how frequently I change my car - and the fact that I once owned a new Favorit for just a month! So I was wondering what is an average rate of change amongst Briskoda members - for example, in 22 years of motoring, I have owned (including company cars) 15 cars, so my rate of change is 15/22 which equals 0.68 cars per year. Put like that, Yikes:eek:

Any one want to come clean:rolleyes:

Did have three cars in less than a year :o ...it's a long story

11 cars in 18 years :D

The Octavia lasted the longest !

Hmm are we talking owned cars, or company cars inclusive?

1st car, Austin Maestro  (cheap insurance, honest).....2 years,

2nd, Sierra Sapphire. Lowered, debadged (as it was a 1.8GL), alloys, tints, Cossie bits....4 years.

3rd car, VW Corrado. Still got after 13+ years, but up for sale very soon. Love this car to bits.

4th car, Subaru Impreza WRX PPP, chassis, suspension and brakes modified extremely making it amongst the most devastating road cars I've ever driven (and I've driven a lot, including exotica)....3 years, and pine for it back every day.

5th car, Vauxhaul Coarser. Rented to do driving instruction. Biggest POS on the face of the planet. I spit on it every night and can't wait to return it and hope it burns in a fireball the day after to spare anyone else the ordeal of driving it....7 months

6th car, Fabia vRS. Current and thoroughly enjoyable little car. It will never replace my beloved Scooby, but it ticks almost all my current requirements perfectly.

7th car, not yet bought and probably some time off, but an Impreza STi Spec C Type RA talks to me in my sleep.

6 cars in 20 years averaging 3.3 years each.

I once had 3 cars in one day..

I've been driving 28 years( I think ) and have owned approx 50 cars.

If pushed I can remember the reg. numbers of most of them.:D

But I cant remember where my house keys are.:o

Two fabias since 2001 - It was something of a forced change ;) and I have no plans to sell mine now.... or ever!

I'm 22, been driving 5 years this June. Just picked up car number 15!!! So thats one every 3 months!

I could list them if you'd like, I'm guessing you don't care!! :P

Just turned 20 and I've had 3 cars in my 2.5yrs of driving.

That's incredible.

I've had 5 in my 6 years of driving, but for 3 years I was stuck at uni with no cash to change...

I tend to change every 11/12 months now and get all sorts of hassle from friends and relatives, still it stops the ex girlfriends from recognizing me!

18 in 23 years, though I cheat a bit as I own a few overlapping at the moment.

Give the Corsa the flick and use the vRS for instruction:) Works for me.

That's what I'm doing. Works for me too, except the worrying bang when they stall it

Yeah, with time you get used to softening it if you see it coming. But it dont feel good and Sharkrider lost a gearbox mount because of it.

Chris

12 cars in 7 years = 1.72 cars per year and I'm due a change :D

I have lost count of the cars/bikes over the years

I tend to change every 2 years or so.
