Lets see...

Octy 2 - 1 year so far but will be at least 3 before I change

That'll end up at 5 cars in 16 years.

I forgot one, I had a Talbot Sunbeam for a rally car for a couple of years. That takes me up to 20. Its now 1.54 Cars per year  .

1994 M Citroen ZX 1.9D - 1 year, 1 month

1997 R Peugeot 306 1.6 XS - 2 years, 3 months

2004 04 Skoda Fabia vRS - 1 month and counting ;)

So I'm on my 3rd car in 3 and a half years but will probably be a while before I change again. Changes have been due to increased affordability and lowering insurance, so I may get bored after a couple of years but at the moment I'm loving the Fabia

Wow this has made interesting reading! I feel so much better about not keeping cars for 5 - 8 years like my brother and dad! Thanks everyone

About 9 cars a month for me.

About 9 cars a month for me.

I hope you mean 9 months a car

Otherwise you're changing every 3.3 days. They're cars, not underpants

im averaging a brank spanker every 1.5 years since year 2000

wondered where my money was going...

Austin Mini 850cc - £?.

Mini 1275GT Clubman - £40 brought from friend, non runner, used for parts.

Mini 1000cc - £90. Stripped out and caged.

Fiesta 1.1 - £220.

Fiesta 998cc - £40 - non runner, brought for parts.

M reg Fiesta Si 1.4i - £4,600 (ish). Sold back to Ford garage.

MG Metro 1.3 - £40 - lasted 2 months!! Sold for about £150.

E reg Fiesta XR2 1.6 - £190 - Stolen and not recovered.

E reg Ford Escort XR3 1.6i - £1,500. Proved to bit a bit 'wide-boy' for my tastes.

C reg Vauxhall Cavalier MK2 1.6 - £60 sold for £90 after two months. Awesome car.

J reg Vauxhall Cavalier MK3 1.6 - £50 sold for £250 after 1 month.

Metro 1.3 Clubman - £7!!! Turned up and the guy was moving house, he offered me the car for the money in my pocket and the deal was made!! Lasted 6 months.

C reg Opel Manta GT/e 2.0 - £200. Excelent car, kept for a good 3 years.

R reg Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 SRi - £3,700. Sold to SWMBOS parents Feb 06

Skoda Octavia vRS - £6k ish. Brought Feb 06 - present. Planning to keep a while yet!

All in 11 years.. mainly over a 3 year period for the first 8..!! I had a habit of buying cheap cars with MOT and TAX and then running / abusing them till it expired and selling them on / scraping them. Had some cracking little motors. Most memorable being the MK2 Cavalier, the Mini 1000 and the Manta. The mini 850 almost killed me and the XR2 caused me no end of trouble when it was stolen.

So thats... a change of car every 8.8 months.. on average.

  • 2 weeks later...

had 3 cars in 2 years

nissan micra mk1

vw polo

skoda fabia vRS

In 6 years of car ownership, I've owned 5 cars, although that's with some overlapping :D

Chris

Ive managed 10 cars and only passed my test 5 years ago in july. This nearly became 11 at the weekend too, and may yet make that by the end of the month. Not bad going i wouldnt say.

Two cars in 24 years is that a record but even I have to say I need to change a bit more often

4 cars in just over 4 years.

1st Car - one lovely Skoda Favorit which I put about 30K plus on the clock before giving to my sister

2nd car - Skoda Felicia 1.3 R reg new shape - had it 6 weeks and crashed it, repaired it, kept it another year and then crashed again - this time a write off

3rd car - Skoda Felicia 1.6 P reg old shape - kept it 7 - 8 months and change it to

4th car - Skoda Felicia 1.6 R reg new shape - currently still driving it - all being well. Wouldn't mind an Octavia!!

9 cars in 10 years. this topic is begging for poll options though !
