Octy Down

Have you checked with a dealer to see if your car is covered under the coil pack recall/campaign?

I had mine replaced FoC on my 06 vRS a few months ago.

Thanks guys. A friendly call to Skoda tomorrow morning it is then. If they honour their recall with me, and have a delay I may buy one from eucarparts to get me going swapping back to the defective of course prior to my car 'going in'.

thanks again, I'll update as things progress

Called my local Skoda dealers, they said there is no recall against my car and not in warranty therefore I pay £35 +VAT on each coil needed together with labour Seems unfair that some get it some don't, I mentined this forum but was told 'Not to believe it as the posts are one sided and at times not true' ????

Phone them back and quote service recall 28F7 and it will be on their system. If you are still on the original coilpacks that were fitted from factory then your car should be covered. Your car is the same year as mine and mine was covered. Might also be worth phoning another local Skoda dealer and asking them to check for you.

Cheers buddy. I just rang SUK and mentioned this, also mentioned 'There's a friend who has the same year as mine who has had them changed' they just keep saying "yours is not on the recall, you need to book it into Skoda as any service wear & tear".

I'm going to swap one of the coil packs around myself this morning and will take note of it's p/n & revision, if they are the same that is being recalled then something fishy is going on.

Thanks for your follow up!!

It is feasible that your car is not part of the campaign, it seemed to be fairly inconsistent across the range, even of cars with same reg, so you may just have to bite the bullet and sort it yourself alas.

I've just taken a butchers at my coils, they show signs of being replaced or removed in the past. 3 are carrying the date code 05 and the other 06, I'll take a closer look at the p/n and rev code.

As I have VCDS an initial fault scan shown cylinder2 misfire. I swapped 2 & 3 around as a bit of troubleshooting and the fault is now on cylinder 3 so that's good I guess.

Eurocarparts have some in stock so I'll take a trip down there in a bit to get a replacement.

Do any of you know the order of coils if viewed from infront of the engine? i.e 1 2 3 4 from left to right or 4 3 2 1 right to left? I just thought swapping the two middle coils would isolate cylinder 2 which it did, but as I can see no damage to either I'm a little unsure as to the order.

Many thanks#

I just replied to your other thread mate. But to reiterate they go L-R. Coil 1 is nearest the coolant and coil 4 is nearest the battery. Buy 2 coils and replace the faulty one. Then just keep the other as a spare in case another one does go.

Haha, just realised this is Tony's old thread, bumped from 2007! emoticon-0104-surprised.gif

You can create your own thread about it you know Pete ;)

hi mate out of interest what year is your car , to see if its in recall range, mine is 06 and have been replaced and mates 06 audi a4 have been replaced

Hi Furn, sorry for my late reply. Car is a 56 plate. All of the coils seem to be of the same type and carry the following id:

07K 905 715B 3 21/06

Skoda left me up the creek on Friday. They told me to "Bring the car down and if we have time we shall look at it, any work WILL be charged this is parts, & labour; but we have no ignition coils in stock"

I made a call to the local VW garage who were 100% certain they had waht I needed but they needed me to cross-reference the car agaist the part & they had no access to the Skoda database. I made a call back to my local Skoda dealer who refused to give me the information on parts or part numbers.

In the end I called Euro Car Parts who sold me a manufactuer "Beru" ignition coil for £33, this brought the car back to life.

I think my Octy had 'A' revision coil packs prior to the recall
