Peloquin diff kits

Featured Replies

After blowing the sh!t out of my friends Prodrived Scooby STi last weekend it brought on the premature demise of my original clutch (lasted for 54k!!!).....as it went for a god almighty sh!t in the middle of the Lake District......

So I'm taking this opportunity to fit Jabba's lightened and balanced flywheel, a Sachs up-rated clutch kit and a Peloquin (ATB) diff, the latter of which I have just imported from the States for a shade over

hadnt you only just the car going again :D

good thinking - turn a break-down into an up-grade!

Did you manage to escape the import charges? :D I paid $975 for mine which was around £500-£520, but had to pay another £120 to get it through customs as the sender forgot to mark down the value like he said he would.

I hear that if it's sent as a gift from NY City, you don't get import taxed.

Also if you contact Gary Peloquin directly, he will declare its value at 300 GBP.....

Yes, but, I knew it wouldn't last long once IHI'd....

It does still drive okay, but only as long as the boost is down and you don't push it at all.

Came back at 80-90mph and got 245 miles on half a tank!!.....every cloud has a silver lining......

i.e. totally abnormally!!!

You have to be very careful in the wet with atb diffs, especially if you're running big power. They are fantastic in the dry, but spin both wheels on a bend in the wet and you'll be in a hedge. I've had this experience a few times now, but thankfully I avoided the hedge. In damp weather I always leave the traction control on now.

would binning the box and fitting a 6 speed out of a leon cupra/TT be a better idea?

not sure on ratio's etc,but an extra cog has to be attractive.

Its also a suggestion to uprate the driveshafts with an atb diff. Putting the majority of 300 bhp through one driveshaft as the torque is shifted about, soon breaks cv joints. The cv joints on the Octy Vrs are the weakest ones of all the vag range. excess play in the joint and the diff changes the power about alot more, even in a straight lin. This results in some very unstable motoring.

Sorry for pointing out the disadvantages, but I'm just sharing the experiences I've had.

Having driven an S3 with a IHI on it, you are changing gear far too often for my liking, at least the 5 speed has good legs.

6th is roughly the same ratio as my 5th anyway, so it isn't as though I would get top end gains.

Agreed here and beware too that sudden lift off during cornering with an LSD can invoke oversteer if your near the limit!
