What mods for improved performance at reasonable cost?

Featured Replies

Would appreciate some advice i want more acceleration/power without breaking the bank (cost of mods and insurance)...

I was thinking along the lines of TIP and Jabbasport remap?

Any other suggestions? How am I meant to explain to Insurance to be legit and at the same time not bankrupt me?

Thanks

Awesome GTI are close to you. Have a look at there website also.

new air filter and freeflow exhaust would be my first thoughts

I'd just plump for the remap. The single best mod you could do.

Without a doubt the most cost-effective mod by far. Jabba absolutely transformed my 4X4. :D

Something ive been asking myself for sometime is a custom remap worth the effort on a 90BHP TDI ?

Its certainly no slouch given the weight of the octy and quite surprised me when i first got it but always after that little bit more ;)

Skoda diesel tuning performance system

they claim to get you an extra 27bhp and 60Nm of torque, i don't know about other tuners that just cmae up when i googled it :)

Remap (Revo - near my home and convenient) made all the difference to my 4x4 - insurance was ok too. Maybe brakes? They seem a bit "softer" now - probably just going quicker!

brakes and remap, i could get the standard brakes on my 4x4 fading very easily very quickly but since fitting my brembo's i've so such problems. not as effective but a lot cheaper get the 312's and some very good fluid and pads then get the remap, power is nothing if you hit a wall :)

remap,exhaust,induction system.:)

But youll want more.

Any suggestion for type of exhaust, air filter? I am defo going to go for remap at Jabbasport the custom one. What about dump valve?

Which manufacturers and what kind of costs?

TIP? I will probably go to Jabbasport and Awesome GTI,

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES

unless your going to be pushing the boundaries of power then i'd say leave the exhaust alone as it could get quite boomy and annoying, you ain't gonna gain anything you'll actually notice by changing it :)

again brakes and remap in that order will see you at about 6-700 or so spent for the best bargain fun to be had :)

A remap transforms the car.

Awesome GTI (Where I went.), is up your way - I think they do a timed trial of the remap.

I just said stick it on, I'll take it.

In and out and woo-hoo!

Now I need brakes and saving for 300bhp....

Thanks again for the replies...this is one of the most helpful forums!

So...

1. Jabbasport custom remap.

2. TIP? Samco?

3. Uprated dump valve? Recommendations?

4. Brakes? Just pads or both discs and pads? If so what do you recommend? Had my pads done very recently...bog standard at SKODA Stealership.

Do I need boost controller and what benefit?

What am I looking at in terms of BHP and torque with Shell V-Power...0-60 times?

Thanks to all for the helpful replies.

Defiantly the Jabba Map, but they advised me against the TIP so that's money saved.

Dump Valve I would say is a definite, for

If your planning on just a few mods then as i would fit Samco/Forge T.I.P,Panel Filter,312mm Brakes and then get remapp done at Awesome Gti.

I have said Awesome as i believe you live around the Manchester area, so should you have any problems with it in the future, you haven't got far to travel.

Thanks for all the input anyone else?

Well... If your still looking for inputs. I would recommend going for the ABD Turbo Intake Pipe, quite a lot of the high-powered Octavia's on here are running them, there well made, and sound very good. Contact Impossible Performance if you need advice on them.. (01634710777)

Another is uprating your dump valve to something like a Forge 007DV.

But the best advice I can give, would be to type what your looking for into the search function, and let that give you the options..

1. Yes

2. If your feeling rich, cant see the point myself

3 Yes, Forge

4. If your on a budget, DS2500 Pads & Dot 5.1 Fluid

5. Boost Controller enables it to be mapped slightly harder as it prevents over boosting but not really essential I believe you have 4wd therefore your right foot will be enough to control slippage in the wet

Next on the list should be suspension

It would help people to advise if you gave a rough budget, bigger brakes are always a good idea but can add many hundreds to the budget, mine were

4.brakes...mines standard stops no problem.

you have different brakes, we are telling him to upgrade to your brakes.
