Thanks again for all the helpful replies

So...

1. Jabbasport remap.

2. Dumpvalve.

3. Boost controller.

4. Uprated pads and fluids.

Will those guys be able to do it all at Jabbasport or should I mix and match from different places.

Some people are saying do a TIP some say no? Reasons? Awesome GTI have a section where they show standard Inlet pipe and uprated ones apparently the uprated ones are a lot less restrictive. Any comments please?

I really appreciate all the input.

My preference with tuning items is always to stay with one company, that way they are likely to take more of an interest in the car & if anything dosent work you know its not someone elses fault & you start to build a relationship. The remap & boost controler should be by the same company anyway so they might as well do the dump valve.

The pads & fluid you could buy, fit the pads yourself & get a small local garage change the fluid but I doubt you will save much on the tuner doing the lot, it really depends how tight funds are & how interested you are in getting your digits grubby

So which pads and fluids and from where?

Will Jabbasort do pads and fluids if I provide them? Will they also do the dumpvalve and boost controller?

How reliable is the Jabbasport remap? What increase etc. do I tell my Insurance company with Jabbasport remap, dumpvalve, uprated pads and fluids, boost controller.

Now the final question...TIP and stainless steel exhaust is it worth it for money, hassle and Insurance premium...power increase?

Thanks

i wouldn't bother with the exhaust unless yours is rusted to hell like mine was, keep it stealthy as the power gain is negligable. jabba will do everything you want :)

i had a jabba map with the boost controller, samco tip, CAI and a different DV then added a blueflame exhaust later on and i never got above 203bhp on a RR but jabba claimed 226bhp before the exhaust was added and i don't think the exhaust lost me 23bhp ;)

Im suprised the RR figure was that low! Perhaps an inaccurate reading?

im suprised at the too, with all those mods i would have said at least 220bhp,or was it a 150 bhp as standard.

I hope id get around 210-220 now with all my mods the car is fast and ive spent too much really so ill have to get it on a rrd.

it being a 150 has nothing to do with it what with it having the same internals/head/manifold/turbo etc etc and i never got above about 206bhp at least 2 sets of rollers and multiple vag-com power runs.

Unless because its a 4*4 the calculation backwards from wheel power to flywheel hasnt gone too well.

Jabba will do the lot no probs, get prices for pads & fluid, odds are they can match them.

Re reliability, once a map is in your car it will never change, its not like old fashioned tuning where carbs & timing constantly needed tweaking because they were mechanical. Modern cars are all about electronics so once the map is in the settings wont change.

Your cars engine can handle over 300 bhp without any internal mods so the map wont break the engine, the only thing that might suffer is the clutch but I know one person who has 335 bhp & still runs a stock clutch, my 4x4 was mapped to 225 bhp at 8000 miles, then increased to 250 with a few more mods, driven incredibly hard & the original clutch lasted about 50,000 miles.

A good exhaust might give you as much as 20 bhp extra but its a lot of money for few bhp & the car will also loose its stealth effect due to the increased noise.

Re Tip I think its a lot of money & im not sure of the gains, I would suggest you talk to Jabba & get their thoughts on it.

I get the feeling you are looking for best value for money so I would suggest you do the Brakes, Map, Dump valve, Boost controller, skip the exhaust, tip ?? & then save to upgrade the suspension, I know the 4x4 dosent handle too badly but a good suspension upgrade makes a great difference.

for a really cheap fix get it on the v power fuel,

very good indeed and does'nt cost the earth:thumbup:

well unless your a tree hugger in which case it does:eek:

Thanks for all the replies when it comes to renewal of Insurance I will try and see how much with mods:

1. Boost controller

2. Jabba custom remap.

3. Dump valve.

4. Brakes.

Which make of brakes, fluid and dump valve (minimal maintenance).

Now guys how do I word the lot to Insurance so all legitimate without killing myself with a huge premium?

Also I recently had a stealership oil change so should I go for a Silkolene Pro- Race spec oil change with Jabbasport before I get mods and what about spark plugs...on my Legacy Turbo which was very crudely chipped I had Iridium plugs any comments.

Regards telling Insurance how do I inform them of power increase as percentage or figures and how will I know how much?

I do use Optimax V-Power as well what about BP Ultimate 'EVO MAGAZINE' really rate it but i do not think they had V-Power in their test?

Thanks for all the excellent input.

Not all clutches are equal apparantly as my 4x4 one couldn't take a basic Revo remap- only about

thats completely wrong, the 4x4 and the vRS use the same clutch and flywheels assembly :)

my clutch went at about 90k(pre tuning) and i had it changed for a sachs uprated item and a G60 single mass flywheel knowing that i wanted more power in the future and have had no issues since.

Mine had only done 30k at remap time so I had no intention of changing it right up to it slipping in 4th at 40mph - perhaps it was always a dud, but I had no problem until revo'd. As far as I know they are the same clutch but it takes at least 8hrs they told me to swap on a 4x4. The garage also told me they never wanted to do another! All I meant was you probably won't need a clutch but you never know.

i think you were just unlucky really, for things like that try an independant as it can be a lot cheaper, i got quoted about

Anymore input please...

you will have to call your insurance and maybe even find someone specialist who knows that bigger brakes mean that your suddenly going to drive like a loon.

Im with elepant and all my mods are declared, failing that try Chris Knott

Thanks for the reply so any other input?

For power output. I'd say 200bhp.

  • Author

Thanks for that but I was thinking I would get more like 220BHP with Jabba custom remap?
