VRs TD (56 plate) Revo "Chipping"

Featured Replies

Yup, the tyres are rubbish. They're the factory Bridgestones with 25k on them so more than overdue a replacement. They were ok to start with but went off about half worn.

I've learnt three facts from this thread that I didn't know before...

The "Normal" setting is not in fact the original Skoda ECU map? Is this definitely confirmed at all from REVO? (Not that I doubt you marty)

Also, VAG.COM and the skoda diags kit can tell it's been REVO'd, even if you switch the program with the SPS back to 1 "Normal"?

The REVO maps are not adjustable by the guys that flash the code on to your ECU. I always thought they had some room to make small changes?

My Furby is still under warranty for another 11 months, so it's sounding like I should hold-off until that has expired before thinking about remapping?

There are ways and means....

Feck the warranty, just do it, you know you want to.

Or even better, go to a meet, and blag a go in one of our members motors, and then decide if it's worth it.

is their any general agreement on what the best overall remap is balancing power and fuel economy

Not really, mearly opinions.

Hope this post makes sense; I'm still drunk from last night.

I had my 07 Plate vRS Custom Remapped about two months ago, with regards to the clutch I have had no slippage to report however I do get an unearthly vibration if I mash the throttle at low revs in high gear - which of course is the DMF. Whilst this is abit of an annoyance it really has helped me to drive the car in a way that will not ruin the clutch. I will get DMF vibrations if I boot it until the revs pass 2,500 RPM.

The thing that got me was when I had my old Punto 60, I'd always drop it down the box during overtaking and hacking, however when I first got my vRS my driving style changed and I'd no longer drop it down because of the fantastic torque. However now I have relised that the massive torque just stresses the components at low revs so I have sort have reverted back to my old driving style.

If like my car you get bad DMF vibrations then you really will get a feel for how to, and how not to drive your vRS.

From a young drivers point of view remapping your vRS really does make the thing even better to drive - I've had mine for about four months now and it never, ever fails to put a smile on my face when I plant the loud peddle on the country lanes. :)

How long is a piece of string? We can't make your mind up for you just give you the information to do so yourself.

Most generic maps can be harsh on the clutch, period. All maps are going to wear certain parts quicker, period. Once you have the extra on tap you WILL use it ;) Do you need a new clutch? It depends on your car, driving style, what map you have and where you got it mapped.

If you like progressive torque then you might want get a custom map, because any generic map is either going to be short on power or a bit harsh. Is it worth the extra

I want to :).

I've been in my mates Ibiza with the same engine REVO'd and it's fantastic.
