Has anybody had to replace this? any top tips and handy hints. Also any ideas where I could get the parts on line, or do I have to get to a dealer?

not done the job my self, but you can get the parts from butts.

it's quite easy

you will need a new roll pin tho, especially if yours is rusted in and you have to butcher it to get it out, plus dont bother re-using the securing clip, just stick a jubilee clip on there... dont forget to slide the jubilee clip on before you assemble the linkage and put the new roll pin in

when i did the short-shift on pinkskud, i managed to use the same roll pin, and the same retaining clip.

just use the right punch to push the roll pin.
