new fab RS....bit underwhelmed :(

Featured Replies

1. Its a diesel - the driving is much different than a petrol

Modern petrols and modern diesels are pretty similar to drive, imhe :D

I see a remap comming on ;) edit: and maybe a bigger turbo, clutch, and a second map?! circa 200bhp?

So, you were saying? ;)

:D Yep, obviously it was down to perception as the Octy must be a fair bit faster.

What I meant by my post was that we shouldn't just assume it was down to that in case his car had a problem.

I guess what we've proved in the process is that re-mapped Octy's are so quick they make a standard Fabia vRS feel broken!;)

No bother....every time I see a black Furby vRS, it makes me want one so bad in black. :( Keep it well though and I could be a buyer for it in 3 years :)

Hey Fletch I reakon in Particular you'd like that Black Furby you had for a spin at the Blessington meet....it's nippy :)

stevo your probably right!!.....re mapped octy just humps the bejayus out of a fab rs.....will take a wee while to get used to it....but thats all part of the driving experiance!!......still have other probs though!!

power streering too light

brakes are hopeless...too hard

seat wont go low.....compared to fletch's

radio wont hold any pre sets....defaults to 87.3 nevery time

clutch peddle squeaks...loudly

other than that its all right!!:)

kit:)

nippy is a word alright! :D

At least the fab vrs looks 10times better..

The mk1 octy looks soo dated.

This is why i decided on the furby.

I wanted a car that i could play that wouldnt need its own fuel station......

the fabia vRS looks and weighs like a family saloon that has been in a 4 car car pile up so a lot shorter than it should be for its weight and quite stumpy both front and rear :P

i do think the mk1 looks a tad aged compared to the mk2 but i still prefer it, the mk2 is a little bit to roundy and large IMHO.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder benjamin.

I'll agree, it is very lardy, but when all you have in it is the front seats and dash, it's considerably more agile. A few mods, and it's quite nippy.

Pod - last year - my furby pulled a 15.4 1/4 mile. Boyced pulled a 15.3 in a remapped Octy 1.

Sometime later this year, there could be a couple of Fabia's pulling high 13.s ;)

nice, when my cars fully healthy again i want to take it up the strip just to see what it can do :)

For me the ideal car would be a MKII 4X4 with the 18T engine and a big feck

off turbo.

How about a 911 GT3 RS?

No, you're right a MkII 4x4... sorry...

:rolleyes::)

When looking at changing my Fiesta ST I test drove a brand new fabia vRS. It had about 20 miles on the clock and still had the wrapping paper on! It seemed slower than I expected and was disapointed.

Then a few months later (still looking at cars) I saw a year old silver 1 at the dealers and thought what the hell lets have another go, so I did and it seemed much faster than the new 1. I could also notice the turbo whistle a lot as well which I couldnt hear on the 1 which was brand new.

Needless to say I ended up buying the silver 1 and am very happy. Coming from a 150BHP petrol I feel that this has a lot more "driveable" power, where as in the ST you had to really rev it up to get the performance.

if you want fast buy my 4oobhp skyline 11.8 ss 1/4 don't even bother playing with skodas .If you want fun get a furby vrs.
