I have met many new friends through this forum and really enjoy our regular meet ups and other events but wondered if anyone on here has been put off at the thought of going along to one of these for fear of being engulfed by 'anoraks'! :D:o

Those that come along will know that not all of us have our heads stuck under the bonnet and have a really healthy social mix but interested in a more 'national' viewpoint.

Its certainly perceived that way. When asked what I'm doing at the meet, saying "I'm going to a Briskoda meet" normally needs following up with lots of justification and explaination... :(

Well I don't care, people can call me what they want!!! I enjoy myself!

(watch out for that steve though, he's a bit of an anorak :P hehe)

not been to one yet but im looking for a suitable anorak and glasses to wear when i turn up. Ive already got the bald head so just need the clothing:rofl:

Seriously though im looking forward to getting back to the uk so that i can turn up to a few. Only person ive met so far has been vRStu whos a top bloke and did his best to sort out my foglights. SWMBO doesnt like him though as i aint stopped pestering her for a couple of grand to mod my vRS with:rofl:

Will prolly bump into mlister soon as hes moving round the corner from me. Might have to start a British Forces Germany wing of Briskoda:rolleyes: :rofl:

Me too Tom, but do I care? Anyway, nothing wrong with a nice warm anorak when

stood in the middle of a windy car park :)

And who was it had their head under someone else's car bonnet within seconds of stopping at the pub

Poll now added.

Yes they are for anoraks but only if its cold or raining hth :D

Depends on the weather ...

Have been to a few meets over the country, sometimes on my own or with the family. Some meets are more car orentated then others. Don't think the rest of the mdk1 clan would want to stand round for 6hrs at a RR Day. But they like going on the day meets I of W and WSM which are fun, not forgetting the odd Friday meet down the pub for something to eat and a chat.

i like the meets.... dont very often get to go because of work... but it's just a great way to meet new people

I suppose in some respects it could be viewed as that but I would says it's the people that go that make the event.

I like to go along and chat with people, ok so we normally have a natter about the cars but in general most of it is spent eating, drinking and putting the world to rights.

Well I have definately heard of 1 person on this site who expects meets to be standing round cars in carparks, with a drink in hand.

It appears that the briskoda meets are trying to break the mold, and make it appeal to a broader audience. Well I know I am trying with the Maidstone meets anyway ;):D

LOL at the poll results!!!

LOL at the poll results!!!

id like to know who the 999 voters where

Meets are a great way of finding out just how many people can actually squeeze into the boot of a Skoda Superb!

Nothing geeky about that ;)

When this sort of thing happens it is normally Tavia's fault!!

Don't think meets are sad,its just a group of people with same interests meeting up for a look at each others cars and having a chat, some people probably think its only geeks that go to car meets but thats fine, not worried by other peoples opinions anyway

Only those on Briskoda know of me frequenting this forum and meets, apart from Mr P of course. Family/friends/colleagues know nothing about this anorak side to me.

Going to meets reminds me of having eyeballs with people back in my CB days, now I did meet some dodgy people back then  but I also met some damn decent ones too.

What's an Anorak...........can we talk about it at the next meet.

And the world is a much better place as a result, don't you agree?:orb_cold:

Meets are great, especially if they are accompanied by a well planned out country blast, with a pub lunch mixed in for good measure.

I have just been to my first Skoda meet met some really nice people, and I suppose I'll get to know them even better the more meets I go to, but I still attend the South Wales Scooby's meet every month, and there are no anoraks there just lots of people standing around with Subaru rally jackets on:rofl: I've made some very good friends attending meets ok the car has changed but I will always go and see my old friends. So yes meets are good and the wife and kids go gets them socializing.

I've only been to one meet so far, mainly due to always being busy when the other meets were on, and i was worried everyone was going to be an anorak and they're not. :D The people are all chilled and laid back. The only problem i had was talking to them and introducing myself!!!:rofl:

It's what people make it, I think. If people think it's an anorak meet, and they don't like anoraks, come along without an anorak, and make it a non-anorak meet! :D :P

The Cat 'n' Fiddle are a prime example of this, and are my favourite. Maybe that's because we hold them when anoraks aren't required? :rubchin: - then again we did have that February one when it was pretty cold!

Errr, anyway - I've voted no ;)

Steve

never thought of myself as an anorak... i do enjoy the meets and meeting old and new briskodians... especially if i stay over for a few beers and a bit of crack... :D beats doing overtime at the weekends... :(

come on go to one... you know you want to...
