Newbie VRS 4000miles in 1 week Adventure

Featured Replies

Hi All, im Neil.

To cut a long story short I brought a 54 Plate Silver VRS 2 weeks ago. It was already partly modified (LCR Slitter, 16" Octavia rims, Eibach Springs, PD160 Intake) And immediately I did a couple of mods myself (Silver indicator bulbs, Silver aerial).

So that the car looked like this

A day later the car looked like this

And was my stead of choice for the Modball Rally ( Modball ) a 3000mile road trip around europe for 150 modified cars... I was supposed to be taking a Corsa Turbo that unfortunetely that wasn't finished in time so my new Skoda was thrown in at the deep end.

The adventure started at the Millenium Dome

And headed over the channel towards Amsterdam

And on to the Autobahn's in Germany

(The car hit 140mph on the clocks)

At this point the cars in the rally got deported from Germany and all the stickers taken off. (Long story)

A few of the cars in the Swiss Alps

Thanks to the diesel smoke we made our own stickers on the rear...lol

I set the brakes onfire on day 2 trying to keep up with a skyline...lol

defo need some TT Stoppers :)

And after a weeks driving 3000 miles and 9 countries this is how the car arrived back home

I have to say... The car did fantastically well!!! I was very impressed overall. The only big improvements that need addressing soon are the brakes and high speed stability. With that in mind future planned mods are:

TT Brake upgrade

Jabba Antiroll car

KW Coilovers

18" RS4 Rims

And of course a chip :D

I look forward to posting on here in the future.

Cheers

Neil

Brilliant first post.

Welcome to Briskoda

Welcome Neil.

I see you have the vRS wheel centre stickers. If you didnt add them to the car, chances are that the car belonged to a briskodian before you, as IIRC they were only available on here.

car looks very nice, subtle :)

Arghh.... I see, that would explain the other mods as well. Does anyone recognise the car? or know the previous owner??? I brought it from a car supermarket.

Cheers

Neil

mine went into the auctions and could have ended up anywhere, but it isn't mine ;)

great story, love the pics, handling will improve with the jabba ARB and the brakes will help too (you'll still not keep up with the skylines though! lol..)

welcome to briskoda :)

Looks like the one mate.

Yeah but think about it another way, the problems are sorted now.

doesnt mean thats a bad thing be thankfull they have been addressed, and that it did not breakdown on your rally!

Great first post mate! Welcome to the site

Loving the 'brakes on fire' pic :D - yep, get some 312s on there...

Cheers for the welcome guys,

Im trying to get in touch with the previous owner (Chris). Just a long shot, does anyone know if he had the remap taken of it before it was sold as it says in his post about the car 195bhp. But im sure it doesn't feel that powerful.

Cheers,

Neil

Well I wouldn't worry, Hellfire made out the car was carp and on its last legs..... yet it's made a 3000 mile thrash around Europe with out any probs....

If the car made it through that (which it obviously has done) it's more than capable

Drop him a PM i'm sure he will get back to you.

As soon as I saw the 16" Octavia alloys I knew it was his old car.

Welcome :)

Nothing wrong with Chris's old car.

Great first post. Nice to see the car has stayed within the community! :)

Wow I bet that was great fun!!!

Welcome and enjoy your stay!

welcome,

Was that you I heard on Radio 1 earlier tonight??

Hmmm - IIRC the remap was left on. But it'll probably be circa 180. 195 is highly unlikely on just a remap. I'd pop it on a set of rollers, to confirm.

Whereabouts are you? I've got a North-West RR day organised for October, but it's full at the moment. Take a look anyway, we might end up with some spaces.

Steve

Cracking first post mate. :D

Can you tell a legal version of the deportation story?
