Car flooded

Featured Replies

Well i got home from work yesterday to find the floods had partly submerged my car so in a vain attempt to rescue it and put it on higher ground i tried to get it onto the pavement further down the street but failed as engine cut out through sucking in water through the abd intake so now carpets have about 3" of water on them and the engine will no doubt need stripping:mad: and to top it off the water carried on rising and the entire downstairs of my house is ruined luckily it only got upto about 3" deep in all downstairs rooms and managed to save most furniture and electrical items so not a good day :( but i suppose it could be worse as other areas are a lot worse off:eek:

sorry to hear that dan after all the money and time you`ve spent on it:thumbdwn:

Feel sorry for you.:(

Just been watching it on the telly. It's pretty grim watching.

Really sorry to hear that:(

Will you be able to sort it with the insurance?

My heart goes out to you mate, i would be gutted, i really hope you manage to get it all sorted.

Gutted mate but the main thing is your safe with power and not a totally submerged ground floor

Sorry for your troubles. Did the engine stop without any bangs or did all sound horrible?

Had a mate who managed to drown the engine on his Discovery after some over enthusiastic wading, we cracked off the injectors and pulled out the heater plugs then turned it over until all the water was ejected put it all back together and its now done another 20,000 miles with no after effects. Hopefully you will be as lucky but if its an insurance job they will probably write it off.:(

Regards,

Steve

Gutted for you. Think it was you I clocked the other day at the calvert lane r'bout. It has been a nightmare round here.

You might get to do a deal with the insurers on it though.

Hope it works out ok. Give us a shout if you need a hand with owt, we're only in cott.

Cheers

Sorry to hear about your car, and your home. Hopefully you'll get everything sorted soon.

All the best. Hope you get it sorted with the minimum of hassle and expense

Steve

Sorry to hear about this, hopefully you get your house and motor sorted as soon as.

Gutted for you Dan, the car looked great at GTi International, really hope you can get it and the house sorted!

bad news, will the insurance pay out or claim it as an act of god and tell everyone where to go?

if you need an engine i know where there is one :)

:( sorry to hear it mate

Re the car the insurance should pay out

If the cars totalled & the water hasnt done too much more damage look at a buy back. You should pay no more than 25% of the insurance value & a s/hand lump will be relativly cheap. Once the worst of the water has dried out in the car see if you can find a friendly bodyshop who will leave it in the oven overnight for a couple of nights to completely dry it out.

sorry t o hear that mate, auction yeard it will go i think.:(

Ouch, that sucks!! Best of luck with the insurance company. Thank god ur house wasn't badly damaged.

Sorry to hear about your home and car. It's looking bad over there. That dam in Rotterham is still on the verge of collapsing, isn't it?
