Roadcraft Police Driver handbook

Featured Replies

I read the intro and first chapter last night after my copy finally arrived from Amazon. Must admit, it's a pretty good book from the little I've read so far - Looking forward to finishing it off this week and doing the advanced driving day on saturday, which is going to based on much from this book.

It's worth a read.

Ah, Roadcraft, I remember it well. Watch out for the break/gear overlap and remember your observation links.

Edit: Hey, this is my 3002nd post! Just about 20 thousand behind you Jase!

Ha, I've literally just text my dad asking to borrow his copy... Then I noticed this thread two seconds later... Spooky :o

Just got myself the Roadcraft DVD. Looking forward to watching it.

Jason. I surgest you go out for a few drives before saturday and try and teach yourself. Limit points is good fun. ;)

Given I have to show up on saturday with my car in good working order, I don't fancy stuffing it off before I've been actually taught something by a professional. ;)

I will digest the theory and see how it gets me.

I have to admit the first chaptor about mental attitude etc was pretty much what I believe now. I.e. avoiding red mist which will limit observational ability etc.

A read of the highway code is also recomended.

Stopping distance at 90mph is 50 feet right? I think I know enough of the highway code to get by. :) The same may not be said for this roadcraft book if I don't finish it by friday night. :D

Reading its not a problem. Its putting it into practice.

Don't bother learning stopping distances or they'll laugh at you :P Learn speed limits for various vehicles, signs and what the paint on the road means you can and can't do ;)

Chris

the dvd is good, certainly explains some of the stuff abit clearer.
