6 speed vRS lives!!!

Featured Replies

Finally got it done yesterday by the guys at Impossible Performance......What a fantastic job too!!!!

The car is simply staggering to drive now, fu*king awesome in fact!!!! :D :D

1st gear = 55mph

2nd gear = 85mph

3rd gear = 120mph

4th gear = 150mph

5th gear = 170mph...ish

6th gear = ....???....

It pulls exactly the same as before only your doing around 10mph more per gear, 1st, 2nd and 3rd are violent and can still spin easily in the dry.

6th will be a high speed cruising gear....100mph @ 3000rpm!!

The SMF is silent, and I can feel the difference it has made in the mid range, certainly worth getting I think!!!

This gearbox (diesel 02M) is not everyone

some that fella good luck, how much has all the mods cost you?

Holy 5hit

Sound's mental well done steve

Nice work Steve.

It was a long time in the planning but it clearly paid off.

Nice one - that sounds like a nice use of longer gearing for that much power/torque ;):D

Thats just what i was thinking! Nice one tho.

Sounds awesome! Are those figures guestimates or have you actually tried? :D

Good one mate - well done!

Oh, but of course:rofl:

Will it pull 6th gear with ease or is it strickly an overdrive on the motorway?

Congrats mate. Sounds like your car is becoming a real beast

120 in third.

pah i manage 110 in mine and i havent got an IHI :D

bet yours is a bit quicker though lol

It pulls okay around 80-90 in 6th, but much below that and it struggles, however 5th gear is just a bit longer than the standard 5th in the vRS and it pulls like a trooper in that gear. 6th will prop only be a high speed cruising overdrive though.

Brilliant news, glad you're pleased

Yep, must be some machine that

Steve

Awesome stuff!

The O2M is long enough in a 4500 redline diesel, so I can only imagine what it's like in a 7000rpm redline petrol.:thumbup:

have you been on an autobahn/track to see what she'll top out at? obviously at the gearing you've got its a matter of the drag limiting the top speed...

is it a car you ever intend on selling or are you gonna keep it as a toy forever?

The limiter is set at 7400.... It pulls so dam hard getting there it's quite amazing!

I have no intention of selling it at all......spent toooo much, plus it is the only car I have ever bought from new (4 1/2 years ago) and I still get a kick out of looking at it, driving it and blowing the are out of 911's XKR's, M3's (E46) Astons etc.

My wife has a 4x4 so I tend to use that for pottering around in, but I do use it on a daily basis whenever possible....

In the past I've just gone out and driven 90-100miles for the hell of it....how sad!

Before the box was changed it pulled an indicated 175ish (needle was in the middle of the trip counter....), so i'm hoping for around 180 on GPS...... we'll see.........

cool! love hearing about stuff like this, on the ford focus owners club there was a guy with a 500bhp focus which was fast as hell, but it flipped for some unknown reason on bruntingthorpe runway at 170mph, be careful with the power mate, be a shame to see something so nice die.

thankfully the driver is expected to make a slow but full recovery

Hmmm, im not too sure having a powerful car for day to day use is the same as one built specifically for top end and high speed records like the Focus. Unfortunatly we may never know what happened to Ads Focus but the lack of a rear spolier (it came off previous to the run in the car wash!) couldnt have helped the cars high speed stability imo. There was a load noise from the rear and that was it. :(

Thankfully, Ad is recovering well thank god. Good solid cars those Focus's though it has to be said.

btw - the crash wasnt at the Bruntingthorpe proving ground.

Cheers,

Lee

the focus could have been a tire blow out. At 150 + speeds you need dam good high speed rating tyres ....

Stevie... cracking car..... everyday I use your car as an example to the guys at work who just think big power is for the scooby esk boys.

all the tyres were fully inflated after the crash, it certainatly was wierd, never mind....

nice car, dont crash it mate!

Oh ... one of the pics looks like the front driver side tyre is of the rim... might not be though.
