Passenger Airbag

Featured Replies

Hi

On my 52 registered Octavia H/Back 1.9 TDi Elegance , there appears to be no way of de-activating the passenger airbag, but in the car's booklet there is an additional entry regarding a key in the glove box.

Does this mean my new car is not the most upto date model or was this feature deleted prior to me getting the car.

thanks

My Mar 02 4x4 doesn't have a key in the glove box for deactivating the passenger's airbag, nor at a quick scan can I find any mention of that in the Owner's Manual. However the latest UK Octavia brochure - dated 01/03 - does have a picture of a key-operated passenger airbag deactivation switch which is available as an option.

I have an 52 RS and don't have the facility either. May be this is a Continental feature.

My 01 RS handbook mentions that it can be done using the vag 1551? diag tool at your local dealer (or use a vag-com). once disabled the airbag light will flash briefly when starting to remind you that it is disabled. A visit to the dealer would be required to re-activate.

Same here (GR). 2003 model (Combi Ellegance), the key is mentioned in the manual but there's no such thing in the glovebox. I guess they took it out :(

the only way of de-activating passenger air bag on all fabia/octavia's is via vag diagnostic machines 1551/1552/5051 (in england) the owners manual is written for various countries so some things don't apply to uk
