try using tyres other than nangkang :rofl:

look at the quarter mile figures then you sill see the differnce, (a golf gti with a remap will do high 14s and it would be good to get that) ;)

the fabia didn't beat the golf so obviously it was rigged and it wasn't driven properly

how about the golf is more capable of putting its down and also the fact that it makes its torque over about 5k rpm rather than 2k?

Suggestion:

Jabba to test Luke's car against a stock GTI and publish the results here on Brisk. At least then we'd have a fair comparison!!

Bas

that's hardly an impartial test :D

Especially when it took a mapped GTI to win. Did they mention that in the article at all anywhere? Small print?

They use a mapped GTi 2.0 T FSi engine in the new S3 but the map is standard fit. If it takes that kind of fare to beat Lukes car that's hilarious. :D

Did they say which tuning company had mapped the GTi?

Chris

Exactly!!! No it isnt - as though the mag one was!!

After the Jabba test, which would show that the VW was total and complete carp compared to the Jabba Luke special, perhaps Brisk could sponsor its own test!- all you need is:

one airfield

one Jabba Luke and his car

one stock GTI

lots and lots of Beer (for the judges of course)

BBQ and scantily clad females optional of course

Be a first for Brisk - our own car comparison test...

And we would have exactly the same results as Jabba!!!!

talkking of the lag....isn't Luke's running the pd150 turbo which pulls harder but has a slower spool up time??

Pretty sure he's running the turbodynamics stage 2

i like ur thinking. Possibly could also have a bmw for welshy and maybe run a standard vrs against lukes to show just how much faster a really sorted fabia is to a stock one.

Another small point is how does anyone know that the Golf GTI was 'mapped'. The only evidence of this is because Luke says so. But lets face it your bound to come up with a number of excuses if your car gets peeed on by a stock GTI:finger:

Its a bit my dads bigger than your argument, you had a test you got beat so what do we do - I know change the goal posts by making out the GTI was remapped, at least then our car wont look quite so pooh!!

Are we sure the GTI was'nt Nitrous injected aswell:rofl:

Like the mag said had they had a mapped GTI it would have literally golden showered the fabia from hear to planet Briskoda:eek:

a golf GTI doesnt need to be mapped to pi5s all over a Fabia......

diesels tune well in terms of straight line overtaking oomph... thats it.

what you cannot give a fabia is handling to match a fundamentally better chassis i.e Mk5 golf.

doesnt mean the fabia is a bad car. but its not a yorkie either.

Agree.

I dont think luke is the type of person to make things up and i believe him that the gti was probably mapped, look at the early press octavia vrs cars, IIRC they were mapped versions to impress the press. I wouldnt think that volkswagen would let a magazine publish the fact that their flag ship hot hatch was beaten by a fabia tdi

Off the top of my head (dont have the mag + past mags anymore) but the times of the "stock" golf maybe similar to past tuned golfs.

Its in Lukes interest to say the GTI was mapped for obvious reasons!! He owns a tuning company doesnt he!!

Looking at the evidence the fabia was heavily boosted, the golf standard, we still got trounced, as the intelligent folk know its about chassis/petrol/different car etc

Actually, the intellegent folk are getting a little tired of the same thread being recycled ad infinitum.

This thread is just a pale carbon copy of so many threads that passed before it try to get a across a point of.... wait what are you trying to say?

Is it that it doesn't make any sense to do what Luke and a few others have done, because it still doesn't perform as well a GTI? After three pages it's still a matter of opinion and all the previous threads have been the same. Why did you start another thread to do exactly the same thing? Did you go to the "Welshy" school of Trolling?

What you and it seems a lot of others don't really get is that it's not all just a pi55ing contest and all about getting a Skoda to beat a car that is perceived to to be superior. It's about the mechanical challange, doing something no one has done before and in a way no one has done it before. If you can't see that then perhaps you are just frustrated at your own lack of talent/cash/guts?. Sit down and think about that.

I own a pretty sorted VRS and I know what it has done, what it can do, how well it does it and how it compares to a lot of other machines. I read a lot of the claims and the counter claims made by members on here and I still don't understand why some people make silly claims about

and what makes you worth listening to any more than him?

you need to chill. :)

I am not, except for the fact I am not recycling a recurring notion.

The speed at which you replyed probably means you didn't really read the post properly and perhaps if you did you might see things a little differently.

I probably do need to chill but all I have done is say what a lot of people on here have been thinking for a while.

The fact that his posts, and thread's aren't always 'vs' threads?

I think those tests that were in the mag were seriously flawed. I think if the OP drove the 240bhp fabia his ideas might change pretty quick, maybe jabba luke should give him a test drive?

My PD 130 golf with a turbodynamics stage 2 turbo made 221bhp and i have encountered loads of 200bhp+ petrol cars on the road and have always had the edge, on the autobahn in germany i actually got ahead of a 215bhp skyline at 130mph+. I have timed my 60-100mph at 7.4secs and no way would a standard GTI do that.

Without accurate timing gear, that's a pretty tough call to judge. The way the Golf GTI's power is set up to deliver, I'm sure it would handle keeping up with you just fine :D

Speedo vs speedo Golf gti 60-100 8.5 secs, mine 7.4. Also the fact I have always had the edge on 200bhp+ cars on the road in the last 2 years says a lot, Also a mates 200bhp remapped ibiza cupra couldn't keep up and not to mention the evo v that couldn't pull away even at 140mph, the only advantage the evo 5 had was slighlty better throttle response. Snoopie I know how my car performs against others, my guess is you haven't driven a car with my mods.
