Featured Replies

I have a friend who just can't decide what car he wants (he currently has a Megane R26 but he's selling it back to the dealer). Budget is around

R32 with APR remap & coilovers. 270bhp unless you go down IHI route that'll see 350bhp.

Sorry, should have said car needs to be standard.

300bhp from a standard

300bhp from a standard

Scooby STI PPP (or get a Type-25 from Litchfield), TVR T350, Noble (maybe), MG ZT-T, Phateon W12, Monaro VXR.....

Chris

How flexable is he on age? The old Location location location question something must compromise.

If so how about the old RS4 2.7 Bi Turbo or a leggy RS6?

Second hand Audi S4? 344bhp v8 and quattro?

Monaro 5.7 (although the 6.0l and VXRs are getting very close to 20k now)

Old-shape M5, M3, Z4, Z3M... Various big engined mercs..

A subaru is a maybe, TVR was ruled out on reliability/maintenance, noble not in budget, W12 wayout of budget, monaro vxr out of budget.

Doesn't want an estate.

A suitable EVO here:

Mitsubishi : 2005 EvoVIII MRFQ340

Is he aware of the monumental running costs on EVO cars?

He'd only need 1 service a year on the mileage he does.

As I said in my first post it needs to be from a dealer, I can't convince him to buy private but I think it would be better. I found an Evo 9 in budget and still under warranty but he won't buy private.

you can get RS4's and RS6's in saloons as well ;)

The Mustang?

Stratstone cadillac & corvette : Mustang GT

Why does he need so much power? Surely something like a VX220 Turbo coul dbe just as fun and they're 10 a penny at that price.

monaro vxr out of budget.

Hadn't realised they were still that much. Plenty of ordinary practically new Monaro's in budget though with silly low mileages.

Old RS4 is avant only, RS6 is auto only.

I suggested the VX220 Turbo but he doesn't fancy the awkward entry/exit. He's very awkward to please!

He tells me insurance is a problem on imports even more so when the steering wheel is on the wrong side.

The new Civic Type-R JDM from Japan ... Might be an import, but it should still feel short of

Does he like the whole Impreza "burberry" thing? Plenty of them around that price. Could get a WR1 for that money too.

Personally I'd rather slick my balls in a fire than own an Impreza.

He sounds like a bit of a girl if he wants a 300+bhp car but is whinging about the insurance

You know the only answer is a 2.0l furby :D

WR1 would be the only Impreza he'd consider that's in budget but he'd much rather have an evo.
