Well the Evo is the only car that fits the bill then. Hes not open to any form of compromise or prepared to listen to others opinions suggestions.

So this is therefore a completely pointless thread.

He sounds like a bit of a girl if he wants a 300+bhp car but is whinging about the insurance

You know the only answer is a 2.0l furby :D

Evo FQ340 is about

Has he considered that a less "bling-tastic" car coul dbe less to insure, even if it is an import? (due to the statistics on ImpzEvos)

I'm not even sure he does want an Evo. The thread maybe pointless but it seems to have got plenty of interest.

He changes his car much more often than me. Recent cars include Focus RS, Boxster S, Clio Trophy, Megane 225 Team F1, Megane R26.

While waiting for the Focus he had an old Civic VTI and I think he was happier with that than anything he's had since.

He's currently driving our Ibiza which he seems reasonably impressed with.

yea your right, seems a tad fussy :P haha

If he likes his Banzai-mobiles then maybe an R34/R35 Skyline or an older Supra. He can use the change to buy a full aftermarket warranty and insure it ;)

Chris

Volvo S60R, 4wd, 300BHP, pipe and slippers not included.:D

Passat W8:O

OK not 300 BHP but what about one of the BMW diesels with lashings of torque and 'instant' go in any gear at any time. That would appeal to me far more than a peaky unit.

Is he looking for brute power or decent performance?

From the sounds of it, he's looking for an Evo ;)

Chris

TBH he sounds like a bit of an idiot to me. There are cars with 300bhp that are slower than others with 200bhp so to just state a minimum power figure rather than a minimum 0-60 or top speed is utterly pointless.

Now, isn't the FQ300 actually about 298 or something IIRC

I just gave that figure as a general guide to give an idea of the performance he's after. For instance everyone would know what to look for if I said he wanted 200bhp+ hot hatch even though the 0-60's and vmax differ.

Last time I spoke to him he thought he'd got it down to 2 cars but he has doubts about both as follows:

Evo 8/9 320/340 - He likes the car and the performance is exactly what he's looking for but he has concerns over the attention they get from criminals.

Z4 Coupe 3.0 - Not sure it has quite as much performance as he'd like and would probably keep thinking he should of got the M.

BREAKING NEWS.......

He's just phoned me and is now thinking of stretching the budget to a new S3 and getting mapped.

What about a 535D - they are starting to bang around the

So he considered TVR but was concerned about reliability. This is a possibility then

Proper sports cars have two seats and no roof.If it was me,no question, S2000.

Nearly 240 bhp and try and break a Honda.

Yes cracking car - but femine

but femine

I'm sure he is enough of a man not to worry about what other people think. It will be his car for his enjoyment blasting off into the horizon:)

I do smile at the 'feminine' points. Is it manly only if it is unreliable?
