Try this with your 4X4

Featured Replies

I remember that when I had problems with my Haldex Clutch related settings I had to drive it for about 120 miles with it disconnected. The mechanic in the service recommended this solution to allow me to go home by disconnecting the connector located on the rear of the Haldex. The ESP was out of service but except that the car becoming a FWD it was ok and FASTER.

Are any of you ready to have chrono on 1/4mile with and without Haldex at the Briskoda track day?

Unfortunately there is no track here where I can test this by my own.

Mmm

I thought they were FWD until the Haldex kicked in as the front started to slip

After reading on Haldex site I understand that ECU switch to 4WD when you floor it.

As well there may be some power loss inside Haldex even if not engaged.

Surely the only way to stop power loss in the Haldex would be to disconnect the propshaft so that there is no drive to it?

..or one click of your handbrake.

Haldex accounts for up to 20% transmission loss. The fact it feels faster is akin to the RS, it's not as composed and scrabbling for grip ;)

the one click of handbrake does work wonders, can turn a man insane in minutes...

Glad to see your online now Ian, though you might of been offline with Manchester phone lines...will fire up msn and have a chat.

How about four clicks... :D

Can you expand on your haldex problems please. I drive around with ESP permanently off now as it is so unpredictable traction wise, and Jabba thought I had a lazy haldex when I first got it a year ago ?

Thanks

Here is a copy of a post i made months ago (ESP troubles by Podwin) - I don't know how to link to it.

To recap my problems (as they were not exactly similar to yours):

1)Esp did not lit

2)Strong vibrations of the rear wheels while turning in the parking / cornering.

I am unable to tell you what exactly they did but here is what I have seen and I have been told:

1)They spotted something wrong on their handheld computer (in german) related to the acc sensor / related data

2) the car was lifted the Haldex ECU reconnected then tried to set some parameters related to acc sensing - but the guy was not convinced that the ECU accepted the paramater setting according to some responses displayed

3) while the car in the air "back an forth" for a few seconds

4)Test drive (about 1mile several corners max 40mph) - disapointment - the vibrations while sharp turns still there

5) BUT on final return to garage - the vibarations disapeared

6) Extended the test drive - on "power mode", sharp turns, donuts, but no more vibrations

7) Car still under survailance if the pb kicks back.

Thanks

I am using the opportunity at Brunthingthorpe to play around with ESP on /off in hard use and to see if the 4x4 system kicks in when it should.

How about four clicks... :D

no, it's a FWD simulator, not a diesel simulator.... :D

:duck:

what exactly does one click of the hand brake do then?? does it dissengage the haldex or something??

would be interesting to know and try out
