Hi

will the insurance be able to tell ?

Rob

They won't know if nothing happens to your car. However if something does and it's chipped they could make your policy null and void and make you liable, which means you could have a lot to pay, far more than if you'd spent and extra couple of quid on declaring these mods with whatever insurance company your with.

they could make your policy null and void and make you liable

AND, as your insurance wouldn't be valid, you'd also probably get done for driving without insurance...

cheers chaps

going to have a word with company. :) NFU

As mentioned above. Jabba has got 183bhp out of my little sooty. They are also apparently developing a fuel control box which could add up to an extra 20bhp! Wonder what my next mod is going to be. ;)

And yes, insurance and dealers will be able to tell!

b@@ger about dealers as lose me warrenty :( will have to think on that one :)

Kechup where do you live?/ Who is your nearest dealer?

north west :)

I think the reason Alex asks is that there is a few dealerships who turn a blind eye to mods, so to speak. You may be lucky. Best ask someone and see what they say.

Best not to name dealers with regard to mod-friendliness ;)

Have a quiet word with the Service Dept Manager at your local dealer. You may be pleasantly surprised at their attitude :)

Exactly. We don't want the all seeing eye of Skoda closing them down on us now, do we. ;)

Hi Kechup, 1. Insurance,as has been discussed several times, best insurance most of us have found is mod v friendly LIERPOOL VICTORIA,as long as you tell them what you are proposing, and they will require photo of mods apparently.Try em. 2.Roughly where you live in n.w.,as the dealer I'm getting my fabby from seem to be mod friendly, assuming u do it through them .Not chip but device on fuel pump,to increase pressure apparently approx

Would it be true that if you have finance that is 'secured' on the car (eg hire purchase etc rather than an unsecured bank loan) then you should also obtain permission from them to do mods as legally they own the vehicle? I know this is a bit square but I'm curious :)

That is why i asked where he lives i might have a solution possibly :D

You have PM

Yeah but if you're ins co know about the mods and you write it off',they'll surely pay you to pay the finance co.,won't they? c.j.

Ah yes, probably true for an accident, but what if they try to claim their goods back (perhaps missed payment or something) and it's not as standard (arguably better of course!)?

Skoda GAP insurance excludes cover if vehicle modifications are other than in accordance with manufacturer's specifications. On the other hand, the SkodaAutoFinance HP agreement terms makes no mention of modifications!

:D worabout a mountain bike instead,no hassle bags of fun and keeps you fit or kills you! colin
