extra cpu??

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Hoping someone might have a better idea than i do.

My server running a single P4 3.0Ghz, thinks that it has 2, its running centos 5 and it most certainly thinks it has 2 cpus.

Any ideas?

It's probably a hyper-threading CPU which show up as two cores.

Intel

Does the CPU support Hyperthreading? Or is it dual core? That sometimes causes OSs to see it as two CPUs...

Rob.

Edit: Doh, must type faster...

for some reason my core2duo comes up as two cpu's as well for some reason

Don't suppose you know the model number?

I seem to remember anything with a "D" prefix on the P4's signified dual core.......got a D925 (2 x 3.0ghz) and a D840 (2 x 3.2ghz) here on my work desk.
