Car clamped re "unlicensed"

Featured Replies

It was clamped day the before yesterday (and is still there). I thought it was because it was parked illegally (it was by the station as if waiting to collect someone). The windscreen ticket, however, says "clamped because unlicensed" (or similar). A tax disc is displayed, but ran out on 3 July.

Apparently the scary advertising incentive is for real, i.e. there are "teeth" behind it. I have no way of knowing whether the car will be released or go off to the crusher. Just thought I'd mention that.

Mo's as dippy as they come (IMHO of course) but I think you're right about it just being a car she's seen!

Chris

It's a K-reg that's sitting there :holmes:

Anyway, me dippy? I'm normal, I tell ye. Course if you believe that, you'd believe anything, especially it seems, your own version of normal... Mwahahahaha.

They clamped a guy at work outside the office window, only noticed as he parks next to be. Was quite funny, young guy with a nice little turbo car with all the wooshes and wooops, but no tax. 3 months out, oops.

They do that round our way, but the cat must be intact and you do have to have the log book, D'oh! :)

I don't know how people think they'll get away with it, (unless car's not in their name of course). I genuinely forgot about my tax a few months back, (thought it was out a month after it actually was, D'oh!). Anyway, within about 2 weeks of the tax expiring, I had a lovely letter from the DVLA inviting me to send them an

How can the Tax run out on 3rd July..Thought tax ran in whole months....

it does, runs out at midnight on the last day of the month.

 See! I am dippy after all. It said "03 07". The way my brain works, it would need to say 8 or some number greater than 8, so I noted only that it was out of date - and in real terms, it doesn't really matter how much out of date. As Chris said though, I wonder if it's there as a cheap "take away" option. I suppose he(she) could have driven it to a car park and set fire to it, but perhaps it belongs to a fine upstanding citizen.

I'm not aware of any scrap yards near here, but I guess the owner will be cross if he could have received

silly mo, thats march this year ;)

Tee hee. Good job I'm in my own little world most of the time and only cross into the parallel world of reality occasionally. :)

It's still there today, surprisingly intact. It's in quite good nick for an old car really, so I guess the owner wasn't intending to ditch it. Mind you, he/she might be now, since a parking ticket arrived first, so the total cost of setting it free might well be more than its value.

Mo

The owner could always claim to be a Manchester Utd footballer...

then they could get away with it for 13 months!!!!

(Anyone who hasn't seen the news today,

I'm referring to some overpaid darling with an Aston Martin)

Chris

common missunderstanding this is chris, all scrap yards will pay you for your scrapped car,and for any one who doesn't believe me if you are in lancs i will take all runners for free,if you don't want the cash i will take it:thumbup:

and allways remove cats as they are about 25 to 50 quid each on top of the money your scrapper is worth, the only thing you have to remove is the tyres as they get you a fiver each deducted from paid weight
