No news on the new vRS?

Featured Replies

Nothing i can find, silly Skoda.....letting lots of sales slip away!

Mike

Pretty standard proceudre to release a new model and then wait best part of a year for the 'hot' version. Skoda did it with last fabia, vw with the golf gti etc.

The mk1 Fabia was on sale over 3 years before they brought out the vRS! Comparing it to the Octavia vRS Mk1, it came out in 2001 ( I bought one in the July of that year) but you had to wait til sept 2003 before it was joined by the Fabia vRS in the Skoda range. So next year realy isnt so bad a wait! :)

Another enthralling read Mike

Spin on it!

Mid 2008 if What Car? are correct.

Mid 08 has been the rumour for a while.

Yes and when I took my Octy in for a service last month, that seemed to be what the dealer reckoned too.

mmm...................interesting!

Maybe they had read your last thread Mike and decided you were right??

"its no use" IIRC

My bro works for Skoda in Liverpool and he seems to think it will be this time next year.

If you read Auto express & autocar they have every week upcoming cars - from all makes and the Fabia vRS is in there for 2008. Usually for every other car Ive seen in it as the final date is known they state month & year or say a season of x year.

Why do you suppose that the Fabia will not have a vRS - whats your agenda?

who said theres not going to be a vrs?. it would be finacial suicide for skoda to not do a new hot fabia. as to when it will come out its been accepted that ir will be 2008 at the moment although that could always be put back yet if their are any development issues. as to when in 08 it will be out might aswell start a raffle on tht one lol could be any time

Seeing as only 25% of sales are vRS's I'm not sure it would be financial suicide!

Would it? Bulk of sales are still from non-hot versions...

Rob.

From reading a number of threads on here about the new vRS there seems to be a lot of people with an agenda against the new car and its certainly comes across that there Might not be a new one....

Clearly the new vRS will get the 1.4 Turbo & Super charged unit and/or the 2.0TDI unit.

Now following on from the old vRS it would seem logical for them to use the TDI unit and there may or may not be demand for the 1.4 TSI 140bhp.

I think he may be getting confused with the Seat Leon Cupra which has the majority of sales.

As many say here the vRS is pretty exclusive and IIRC total UK sales are 12000 std vRS and 1000 S.E. vRS. not sure of total sales of the Hatchback fabia.

I was going to change my Fabia vRS, (but for what ?), but am now going to wait and see if they do launch a new vRS in '08. Just want the 2.0TDi/170bhp + DSG, (but will settle for the 140bhp version), with decent suspension but without any "look at me" body kit. Nice little street sleeper, please.

Carjacked Mike - You are the man!

You should work for 5th gear or something with your lengthy opinions and reviews.

Are you on some kind of "downers"?

yea the cupra obviously what was i thinking you look at the two and its like seeing double..which is the vrs hmmm.

i admit though i might have.. over exaggerated when saying financial suicide but it would still be stupid not doing one as at the moment the mk2 overall hasent had the best reception and a nice new hot hatch might just be the ticket

I'm sure I read on here recently that Skoda were having trouble keeping up with demand for the Fabia Mk2 and so had started building in another factory? Maybe that was the Octy? Sure someone will correct me :D

Yep in Auto express a while ago - Im sure you all know how well it has been reviewed by all the main mags, Autocar, Autoexpress whatcar etc so it should sell well anyway.

For those who have the vRS Mk1 Fabia - do you really like the shape & style of the 1.2 or 1.4 or the estate Fabia Mk1?? I dont but I like the look of the vRS - as for the new fabia not seen one "live" yet so unable to give any vaild judgements on looks but mag pics look fine

the new normal Fabia looks better than the old normal Fabia, imo.
