Hmmm I e-mailed SUK to see what they had to say for themselves :)

Dear Mr Robinson

Thank you for your e-mail.

I was delighted to receive such positive feedback from you in relation to your Skoda Octavia vRS.

Feedback such as yours proves that the standards SkodaAuto aim to achieve are not only being met but are also appreciated by our customers.

In relation to your query regarding the new Fabia vRS, Skoda currently have no plans to release this model in the near future.

I trust this information is of use to you and I would like to thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with Skoda.

Yours sincerely,

Rats :(

and in complete contrast to that, 3 individuals at the dealership today tell me the VRS is planned for may 2008.... seems like they dont know what the hells going on...

I think the only option for people who want a small `sporty` diesel hatchback, as per the MK I fabia, in the near future is to look elsewhere.

Other manufacturers are making the sporty cars with lower insurance groups. If the VRS isn't going to be out in your time frame then look elsewhere.

its funny, i asked a very similar question yesterday..

"so, if i want something thats sportier than the 105bhp one, then what would i do"

the answer

"octavia vrs, or the seat leon around the corner" (local dealer is affiliated with seat)

says it all really.

It is official; VWAG now confirms: *VRS is dying

One more crippling bombshell hit the already beleaguered *VRS community when IDC confirmed that *VRS market share has dropped yet again, now down to less than a fraction of 1 percent of all cars. Coming close on the heels of a recent Autoexpress survey which plainly states that *VRS has lost more market share, this news serves to reinforce what we've known all along. *VRS is collapsing in complete disarray, as fittingly exemplified by failing dead last in the recent WhatCar comprehensive petrol hatch test.

You don't need to be a Kreskin to predict *VRS's future. The hand writing is on the wall: *VRS faces a bleak future. In fact there won't be any future at all for *VRS because *VRS is dying. Things are looking very bad for *VRS. As many of us are already aware, *VRS continues to lose market share. Red ink flows like a river of blood.

FabiaVRS is the most endangered of them all, having lost 93% of its core developers. The sudden and unpleasant departures of long time FabiaVRS designer Luc Donkerwolke only serves to underscore the point more clearly. There can no longer be any doubt: FabiaVRS is dying.

Let's keep to the facts and look at the numbers.

FabiaVRS leader NeoVR states that the costs for FabiaVRS are too high. How many owners of OctaviaVRS are there? Let's see. The number of FabiaVRS versus OctaviaVRS flames on Briskoda is roughly in ratio of 5 to 1. Therefore there are about one fifth of whingy OctaviaVRS owners.

Due to the troubles of leaky door seals, abysmal sales and so on, FabiaVRS went out of business and was taken over by FabiaSport who sell another troubled diesel. Now FabiaSport is also dead, its corpse turned over to yet another charnel house.

All major surveys show that *VRS has steadily declined in market share. *VRS is very sick and its long term survival prospects are very dim. If *VRS is to survive at all it will be among performance dilettante dabblers. *VRS continues to decay. Nothing short of a cockeyed miracle could save *VRS from its fate at this point in time. For all practical purposes, *VRS is dead.

Fact: *VRS is dying

Now if you don't get it don't flame me!:rofl:

WTF are you on about. Of course sales of vRS have dropped, you can't buy the Fabia anymore!

Half of that made no sense!

"VRS is collapsing in complete disarray, as fittingly exemplified by failing dead last in the recent WhatCar comprehensive petrol hatch test."

ITS A DIESEL!!!!!!!!

Yes I know... That was the point. The comment about sales falling and the petrol car test were meant as a **** take.

As I said if you don't get it don't flame me,!

I'm afraid only the IT types, who do *NIX will get it as it was a knock off of the "Netcraft confirms BSD is dying" troll.

I find myself troubled

Apparently Skoda wish to keep participating in the WRC... doesn't that mean they have to produce a vRS anyway to continue racing in the competition?

They do? I thought they'd dropped out of the WRC?!

Chris

Spoke to my dealer today and he told me he still thinks this car is coming in 2009. Why all this smoke and mirrors and confusion?

This is not doing Skoda U.K's rep any good at all in my eyes.

No, you only have to produce a certain number of cars, (1500 I think?) to make a rally car of it,

The Felicia was homoligated on the 1.6 Hatchback

I beleive the Fabia vRS had a longer rear bumber so that it could be homoligated, dont think it has to be a vRS or sports model that you base it on

Hi

I spoke to my local dealer today, I run a Performance driver training business and run a couple of Fabia VRS's and I was looking to renew my current VRS some point next year.

he says its down to the engine powerplant, they have planned to use the 2.0 TDI 140BHP, but in the current Fabia VW buggered up and it wont fit, apparently Skoda are at the moment re-desinging the front end of the Fabia to fit this engine and we should have a new VRS at some point in 2009.

as for the WRC, i have heard they are coming back some point in the next couple of years, and yes they would need to homoligate a sportier model, the current Fabia like the last one is not long enough so expect the next VRS to have bigger slightly longer bumpers so that it confirms to the size requirements.

hope this helps guys

i was told whwn i bought my fabia vrs two weeks ago by the dealer the new vrs fabia is out in 2010 but no one nos wat its going to be like. they are realing a sports version first

The dealer I ordered my new Octy vRS from told me almost exactly the same thing a week ago when I was enquiring about the new Fabia for my son.

This was the dealer principle who mentioned it.

All

Sorry to put a spanner in the works of the 140 engine not fitting - But the current engine finishes productionVERY soon due to emmisions and the new Common rail is goining into the VW Tiguan, and will be rolled out across ALL VW's immediately after.

So trying to get this old engine into a new model that would not come up to euro emmisions appears to be a bit of a red herring.

NEXT rumour please :)

P.S What about the Fabia Sport, this appeared out of no where .

Interestingly speaking with Mr Keith of D M Keith the other day we were discussing my Fabia Vrs which he say's will start increasing in value now all the run out SE's have sold and because there will not be a New MK11 Vrs!. Not for a long while yet he recon's.

Interesting this... I was chatting with one of the sales people at DM Keith (Leeds) and she did inform me that all the SEs were sold, but that the new one was supposed to be debuted last year (07), and sold this year, with the estate. Probably not true.. but would have been awesome.

As it happens, we then ordered our new car... Fabia3 with some little sporty bits.. door sills and the like. Should be lovely.

Hey! Carjacked Mike has got hold of Cheezmonkhai's password! Quick ban him!:D

I spoke to a local dealer about this today

(okay so I'm adding another 10p to the vRS rumour fund)

he said that there will be a diesel Faba II vRS, for the UK, bt not during 2008. He expects it to have a 2.0 litre 140 bhp engine with 6-speed.

He also said that he has heard* of Europe getting a Fabia II RS sooner than the UK, but that it is a petrol version, and only with the 1.6, 105bhp engine, which he knows wouldn't sell here. Not sure what the difference would be between RS and the Sport trim which is already available.

* he says he's been looking for evidence of its existence, but has so far turned up nothing.

I see that the new Fiesta will have a 198bhp engine to rival the Corsa......140bhp, no thanks and Skoda will **** out if they do it will have to be 170 or they will be left behind.

Put the 200bhp TDI in the Octavia and free up the 170 for the fabia.....simple eh?

Skoda should let Brisky design the next vRS, I'm sure we could have a good car at the end and probably not a balls up that they will make.

Ben

about

it will have to be 170 or they will be left behind.

who says they will be left behind ? who says they need a thrashy wee monster to keep pace with the Clio/Corsa/Fiesta ?

What about people who want a fun, "warm" hatch, instead of a pocket rocket?
