PD TDI Power?

Featured Replies

Having driven my good friend Darren's Fabia vRS (what a great motor) I was wondering if anyone knew why the power output of the PD engines (130 -150) are usually reported to have significantly higher output figures when put to the test?

Has the 1.8T ever been found to have the same, significant, increase? - well one can hope!

Cheers

It seems 145BHP as standard is very common among the PD130 vRS Fabia boys.

Mine has 149bhp and 253lb/ft standard with 12000miles on the clock running shell diesel extra :)

One of the reasons is down to company car taxing regulations on the continent - I think in some countries its rated on power output. Perhaps one of our continental briskodian friends could enlighten us.

Also there is quite a lot of difference in output between engines so VAG err on the side of caution and get happy punters with cars that perform better than expected.. :D

150 Bhp 1.8T has been RR'd at 165 ish

18o Bhp 1.8T has been RR'd at 180 - 190.

For some reason mine is pushing out 230 ish

Ditto :D

my octy vrs standard, run 191 BHP before the jabba remap, using normal sainsburys 95 ron.

Ditto :D

What's this then Jon. You finally come clean about your 'SDi'? ;)

I was talking about my old RS. :(

;)

:holmes: Elementary my dear Watson!

My 4X4 was delivering 164.6 bhp prior to remap, and with less than 7000 miles on the clock.

Judging from all these posts, I'd say most of all our engines seem to be putting out (or have out out) 10% more than quoted, on average!

PD 100's Jason have apparently been known to putout 115-120 bhp as standard.

Does it not depend on how it's measured? Rolling roads will always be inaccurate and the only true way to measure it is with an engine dyno. Would be interesting to get the engines measured accurately to see how the compare with Skoda's records - I'm sure there is some fluctuation but 10% sounds a lot! :)

Chris

Mine was RR'd at 109BHP when I was remapped, so not quite 10% for me. But then I was running on cr4ppy supermarket diesel too, and also hadn't been serviced for 9000 miles... I'd say 10% was about right on average.

OK then Jon. I believe you! :D;)
