Octavia re-sale issues

Featured Replies

Now my Octy is up for sale on here and other places to, and to be honest i have had next to no interest in it.

I have been on parkers guide and it says the following

Franchised Dealer

depends on the dealer and what they tend to trade in; mate at work was offered

I think it's an indication of how the market is currently moving. Used cars just don't seem to be selling that well.

I couldn't sell my fabia vRS... accepted problem with it though was 80k in 20 months , so people wern't interested (don't know why, we all know the engine is good for three times that!) part-ex was a joke.... offered way below book on it all the time, best offer I got was from a skoda garage on trade-in for a SE, the the ROBBING SALESMAN offered me

My car is not on any finance, i own it totally.

I may do one of two things if i can't sell it in the next week or two.

1. Do some more mods to the octy, after all if i can't sell it i may as well make it a bit quicker and handle a bit better then just run it for another year or two.

2. Buy something for

have you looked on glass's? they are what the garages use and not parkers but i beleive you have to pay to use it as its more a dealer site than public.

As for the Mazda its not a girlies car, just more hairdressers ;)

I used glasses on the Vauxhall website

it said

Excellent condition

I think the problem is it's modded!

People always think modded cars have been thrashed within an inch of it's life :(

I was looking at the add on Piston heads and the 2 other cars VRs silver & yellow modded are both still on there for sale from when I was looking (1 month ago with new adds)

It's looks nice and clean and is a bargian for somone looking for a modded 1.8

Like you say if you don't have any joy selling tune it even further :D

Not with the case of the trade ins i have attempted it isn't. As they have not even known it is modified. You may be correct in the case of not having many responses to private ads, however i am sure people on herer have purchased modded cars and for the price/mileage/condition/perfomance of the car i don't really see anything coming too close. Also some of the modded Octys on pistonheads are tuned and modded to a far highter degree than mine.

I am wondering what i could get done to her for around the

I just bought one, and couldn't believe what a steal I got, guys a small independant with a few cars at any one time and had been "stuck" with the Octavia for a few months. He said the same thing, could have sold it many times if it had been a diesel.

Showed me the last 2 months Glass's guide and it had lost 1k in 2 months at good condition.

He also said Silver is becoming a very poor proposition as so many are coming to the market.

Only his take and not helpful, but if you have money to burn you could invest in a GT28 or IHI :) :) and keep it for a few more years.

I'd be tempte to keep it and buy something to have fun with.

You could get a cheap MX-5 and mod that a little for some great track day use. I would have thought

Off to look at a 1990 Eunos Roadster with 67k on the clock, MOT til june next year, recent new roof.

Try Mazda's own insurance, and also the MX5 owners club.

The MX5 has long had rave reviews as it it totally balanced front-rear. Means it should drive like it's on rails on the track! ;)

Possibly wrong-ish time of year (holidays etc)

From what you've written it sounds like you've had some stinkers quoting you (and seriously taking the pee).

Another thing to think about is 'better the devil you know' i.e. buy another car and you could be into a veritable can of worms.

And - "I do enjoy driving the car enormously".

I'd say spot on with the above cause - time of year. People are spending money on other things. Renew the sales effort in 6 weeks, if you can.

MX-5 - don't knock it till you've tried it :D

Still miss the one I had earlier this year. If there was one car I'd keep as a second car...

Steve

Is this the roadster MR2 you are looking at ?

Mine never started if i left it for more than a day, Great motors though.
