Blue flame mpg

Featured Replies

hi all

fitted a blue flame cat back system last week and it seems to have improved the fuel consumption, before it was fitted i could only do about 220:thumbdwn: miles on a full tank of petrol but on my first full tank with it fitted i did 290 miles:thumbup: without changing my driving style, just wondered if this is normal as i thought it would lower mpg slightly. cheers

tbh i noticed the same ie an improvement but not that much!

i think if mine only did 220 to a full take id be arrested as they would think that i stole it :p

Regulary get mid to high 30's mpg from mine and can get 40mpg + on a cross country national speed limit road when traffic doesn't allow progress ;)

so 220 miles per tank aint that good then?

:(

heavy right foot? ;)

Add another 100 to that at least!!

Usually get 340-360 from a tank.

Though will vary with how you drive the car ;)

had the car 2 years and no matter how i drive it i cant get much more than 220 miles 230 max even on the motorway just thought it was normal

Will I have my vRS taken away if I admit to geting nearly 400 to a tank :o

Yes I must admit that with a full tank.

I'm getting about 300-320 around town driving with the odd blast here and there!

220 doesnt sound good imo have you had a remap? or never serviced it? only hoon around town only and never go on longer trips? id get it checked tbh as id be unhappy with that.

Same here  .

Did get a lot more this week but only due to a 260 mile round trip to sussex at the weekend..........

Just topped up this morning, and my odometer was at 397 miles, and according to the daft computer, i had 10 miles remaining lol.

Thats on an Octy vRS with Jabba stage 2, fairly sensible driving with the odd spurt ! ;)

:(

Jezzus ,,,,,,, I get more than that towing an 18' boat !!!

car is standard apart from blue flame cat back and green panel filter, serviced every year with only 39k on the clock ( not bad for a Y reg ). think i better get my local skoda dealer to check it out.

I'm presuming you dont feel that there's anything wrong ?

What type of driving are you doing ?

Town, Motorway, bit of both ?

Mostly town driving, only a 14 mile round trip to work each day. The car has a rough idle and sometimes i lose the boost when driving and have to switch the engine off and on again to get it back.

Have you had VAG-COM or similar onto it so see if there are any faults ?

May be worth a quick check.

Service is due next week i will get them to put it on the computer and see what comes up. i had it done once before cant remember the code i think it was something like "over boost pressure" they told me it was nothing to worry about.

get it checked and take it for a long drive somewhere. doesn't sound right to me at all.

240 is about what I get normally, 70% must be trips of less than 5 miles though. That was the same even before it was tweaked. Full service history and nothing coming up there. Get just short of 400 if take it steady on a motorway trip. Is there anything that I can do to improve the mpg other than drive like ned flanders?

Have to say my commute to work is only 3 miles and i'm jucky to see above 20mpg as the car doesn't even have time to warm up.

But my girlfriend lives 65 miles away so it gets a long run twice a week and the tank averages mid 30's mpg upto 40mpg if the 65 mile trip is stuck behind an HGV.

Si..Buy a bike lazy bones ! 3 miles...Pah. :D

short distances will kill your car! as said above get a bike!

My workplace is just over 2 miles away :o

I was tempted to start biking in and stop coming home for lunch but unfortunately that would require far too much effort :o
