After my ongoing "issues" , I thought I'd find out what's the most times you have had to go back to a dealer to have a single fault fixed?

Once :o

Well , at ten and counting I bet I'm the highest.

Before that I think it had been three which isn't too bad - one to diagnose the problem , one to fit the part and a third to fit the correct part after the first one was wrong.

Yep, three here as well, for the same reasons. It was drawn out over several weeks though as it was at the time of the VAG parts warehouse move in 2002 :(

Cant remeber but less than 10 I think. Does 5 months count?

While it was annoying at the time it wasn't the end of the world , and still isn't what I'd class as unacceptable.

When speaking to Skoda customer services today I asked them if there was a point at which they considered it an unreasonable time to resolve a fault - "no" was the reply.

When I asked them if they thought eleven visits *was* acceptable they didn't know what to say

I was perfectly happy with the service I received from the dealer, and the delays didn't bother me particularly - it was only the stereo after all. But if my car was off the road waiting ages for parts then it might have been different...

So what is the problem with yours? My shed doesn't make any noise at all ;) Please point me to another post if there is something I've missed.

Very loud creaking from the suspension when you go over bumps.

There's a lengthy thread about it in the Octy II forum.

They can hear it , and agree it's not right but don't know how to fix it

Three - to fix a water leak in the boot.

Once for the dealers themselves to seal the rear light cluster.

Second time for the dealers to get a bodyshop to reseal the same light cluster (5 minutes after getting it home I sat in the rear of the car whilst Mrs H hosed some water over it - immediately saw the water coming in again - what kind of quality checks (if any) do these people employ?).

Third time to get the bodyshop to remove rear bumper and check - lo and behold a washer was missing - once replaced, no more water leaks! (Suggested this course of action to the Service manager who advised that "The rear bumpers are not held on with bolts"!!!! WTF do they use then, blu-tack?)

13 times, with a Citroen Xsara VTR as the door card kept coming away from the door. Amongst other things, quite an endless list of stuff just with that car really.

With Skoda, never had to go back again with the same problem.

I never read the Octy 2 forum, but this sounds to me like a variation on the old "dry bushes" problem. Has anyone tried putting some used brake fluid on the rubber bushes in the suspension yet? Or checking the rear springs and dampers for evidence of the rubber bushes and seating rings? (seating rings may not apply)

Well , visit 11 is booked now , and if they do find it then it's likely to need number 12 to go back and actually fix it.

You still have the lead though :)

Off Topic, but I think my creak has gone after the subframe/bolts etc were replaced

Thanks.

When it does go in next it will have a printout of this thread sat on the dashboard

Three to try and get a CD changer working and it's still not so I may end up sorting it myself:

1st to have a quick look and to decide that it did need to be booked in and looked at properly.

2nd to look at it properly and decide that it needed a new changer.

3rd to fit the new changer and give me the car back for me to find that it still wasn't working. Then for them to have another look and decide that the changer wasn't plugged in at the headunit due to incorrect fitting of a phone kit and finally for them to decide that they didn't have time to fix it before closing and that it wasn't a warranty issue after all!

In total nearly 5 hours sat at the dealers for nothing!

Or more to the point to be sat at the dealers for something which can be ascertained in about 10 minutes if done logically and properly!

2 visits to get the coolant bottle fault fixed. Ended up getting a new one fitted.

However, when I had an LPG Vectra, 12 times in 6 months to get the LPG to work properly  :finger:

Twice is the maximum for me , but approx 98% of the time the car is sorted after one visit , so I'm not complaining (except when it comes to their labour rate , but thats another thing entirely)

took a car u had years ago in three times to fit a heating problem (lack of heat) and was a pain in winter and each time they couldnt find the problem. it then went in for something else (which they didnt fix or locate either) and somehow got the heating to work.

Guess it's my own fault for getting the car from Rayrigg. 4 visits to get themostat replaced and then to have ti done again and again and again, they are crap. Dont get any cars from them

None - I can't remember the last time i used a dealer to actually diagnose and fix an issue. Usually I (or Ross :D) diagnoses it, I get the part from Skoda as needed, and fit it either myself or get a mechanic mate to do it. :)

i'm the same as Jason above , only had 2 things replaced under warranty , glovebox lid and the light switch , so 2 visits for each of those , one to confirm fault and order parts , the other to fit parts

otherwise all other faults fixed myself , inc door reseals ,being a technician helps though

Thanks.

To whom it may concern,

Come on lads get the finger out and fix this car, and when you get it sorted can you let your counterparts in Ireland in on the little secret so they car sort mine. Oh and Btw if you know a fix for the rear seat clips rattle I'd be ever so greatful .

:D
