Lowering springs Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Mines got Eibach springs on it, made it little bit more harsh on speed bumps (read that as slows me down) but other than that Fantastic improvment to car. The Standard legs have been retained all round.........

There are squillions of posts/threads on the subject of lowering, but try as I might I can't seem to find a definitive answer to my question; which is:

I'd like to lower 25mm with springs of a similar stiffness to those fitted as original equipment on the Fabia vRS: where can I get these, and what is a ball park price?

I'm well aware of the high acclaim for Eibachs but the combination of the 25% increase in stiffness and the state of the roads round our way make them a non-starter.

Incidentally, am I missing something and there's a good technical reason why the stiffness has to increase if there is a reduction in length of the spring? Can't really believe there is such a relationship but will appreciate your input.

Thanks, in advance.

Since posting this thread the following mods have been completed:

1. Fitted 17" mk1 Octavia vRS alloys shod with new Falken 452's.

Comment: Prior to fitting I was apprehensive about the outcome ride quality. Shouldn't have been, it is excellent - in my case it is smoother than it was with the 16"/Michelin Pilots/Exaltas combi.

2. Fitted 25mm lowering Eibachs - kept standard dampers and reduced bump stops 25mm front and rear.

Comment: I fully expected the handling to be significantly improved but again was apprehensive as to the outcome ride quality - thought it would be too harsh. I needn't have worried. The improvement in the handling is as I expected but contrary to my initial thoughts the ride is now even better, over the majority of surfaces.

All in all I'm really pleased with these mods and would recommend them to anyone planning to go down the same route.

NB: IMO the Falken 452's play a significant role in the overall ride quality.

Was wondering saw someone on here lowered on H&R springs was a bit lower than eilbach just right in my opinion, how does the car ride on these plus anyone tried them with koni fsd's???

The guy is AndyVRS who has H&R's on his SE. I PM'd him and he felt the ride was a bit harsh. By coincidence, he thought Koni FSD's might be the answer to improving comfort.
