Too many ins claims on the Fab vRS

Featured Replies

So you see my concern - especially when most posts on the fabia sub topic are about how much they rev to 4k how many have had blown turbos whats the top speed achieved by GPS, Ive beaten this or challenged that on the road all kind of helps explain why it might be getting saxo'd up.

And there isn't the same sort of threads on other forums  . This being the only car forum I look at, so I can't know for sure, but I don't imagine the various Seat forums threads are all about the most clutch saving driving methods or how to achieve 7 million to the gallon.

You are hardly going to get any pity off my for having to pay over

Try Adrian Flux they have done me alright in the past few years. If you are a member on here you also get an extra discount.

Hi,

I was interested that you said you can get a Discount from Adrian Flux for being a Member here, I presume you have to be a Paying Member and not just a standard Forum Member for that privilege?

Also do you know what sort of Discount they offer please?

Cheers

MarkT.

Whats the MPG like on the VXR? And are serving intervals at 20k?? Also whats the rear boot like relative to the vRS Fabia?

thx

You forgot to ask how much his insurance costs

Welshy...

You seem to be unaware of the fact that driving the Polo will make you look like a bender. I'd happily pay more and drive a VRS.

Does he need the Polo to do that?

;)

Lmao.

While we are on the subject of insurance I'm 19 with 0ncb and it costs

Chris

I'm on my old mans Mini Fleet policy with Norwich Union ;)

Actually its more like

Tsk.

Welshy's first thread back and already he is annoying people. Ahh how I have missed you.

Got my renewal through from AXA for

I do not personally know Welshy so please do not take this response personally but...

I used to work in car insurance less than a year ago as a part time job. Since then I've learnt that car insurance depends of probability, statistics and risk factors. They do not set out to 'screw motorists out of money' which is what a common perception of the industry is. I know for a fact that the company I worked for only broke even after 3-4 years of being launched, and it was very selective in who they covered as well as being in-line with the rest of the industry in terms of premiums.

One thing to note is that if a certain type of car is getting more claims than another, then it will be seen as a higher risk. However these risks are seen differently by various underwriters. Some will break this risk down into age, while others will break it down into make/model/variant of the vehicle, others being a combination of those amongst other variables. So in this case it may be cheaper to insure other smilar cars, but at the same time try getting a quote on more expensive cars than not many people buy and you may find the premium is even cheaper.

Finally I'd just like to say that opening a thread like this will be slightly controversial. What people choose to spend their money on is up to them. Yes it may affect you indirectly if a small proportion of these make claims, but at the same time look at the number of cars on the road. The pollution they create can indirectly affect your health. The traffic can contribute to you spending longer on journeys. At the end of the day if people crash their cars, either purely by accident or driving like idiots they already pay for it through their wallets by having to pay for repairs, excesses, and a possible increase in premiums for the next 3-5 years.

Just for the record, I had free insurance on my first car, a 1.4 16v Clio. When I was 19 the premium was around

I'm sure it's all the non-Brisky members that are at fault.

Everyone knows that all on here are very responsible, totally 'Roadcraft' (thanks ChrisGB for that, and again thanks, and thankyou BTW) aware and have the lowest incident rate per Car Forum in the World.

Have you thought of a BMW bike, or moving out of a floodplain area ? :P

Welshy. The problem with this is, you have too many speeding fines, and have had many crashes. If you were to control your driving, you may find the quotes cheaper.

I cannot understand, why someone would look at buying a brand new Golf GTI, Clio 197, all these cars in these sport ranges, and worry about a Fabia vRS's insurance group.

Rant over. ;)

Thanks for that post Irf; informative and balanced.

and the golf gt tdi (150bhp) is hardly "sporty". My boss has one and it just looks like a normal golf with twin tailpipes to me

You know what? I thought I could let it go but I can't. I have to have my 2c's.

Welshy, your talent for just being the best troll ever is rare and we should all treasure it.

No really we must...

Given your form and history I am surprised, no, shocked that you are not buying a BMW. Must have your rose tinted contacts in because to come on here and say what you have said after spending so much of your time on this forum slating the residuals, practically laughing at the long term prospects of the car whilst comparing them to XYZ and trying to rub owners noses in every little flaw is a little ironic.

Like rain on your wedding day...

A free ride when you've already paid...

In fact it's so ironic, the irony is overflowing into other threads as we speak and before long it will be spilling out into the whole forum. OMG it could even seep out and engulf the whole of Teh Intarweb, there is that much irony. Hey, just had a though! If you could work out a way to sell irony, you would easily have enought to pay for the insurance ;) Hell, you could even afford to mod it!

And as for quoting in Welsh on here, it's a bit pointless really. Not sure what you were trying to acheive but it didn't impress anyone especially as it was a bit regional to mean much to anyone not from Aberbargagoedmiskincwmnewydd or the locallity

Hope you enjoy the car.

Drive safe now...

Martin,

Thought you'd been too quiet :P

BTW, you forgot the snake oil  for the BMW.

Nice Alanis link! ;)

All very true Mr Decron, my thoughts entirely. He gets people talking though, you can't deny him that.

I think he's an SUK mole - planted to extract every single iota of info on unmodified / whatever motors :thumbdwn:

He's bloody good at it

Like rain on your wedding day...

Is that ironic?

Chris

no, just really annoying

the most ironic thing about Alanis's song is that the things she talks about aren't really ironic.

Decron, you deserve a thanks for lightening my mood at work!!

Um 6 years no claims bonus well over 25 but just under 30 garaged very low crime area, no points ever Chartered Accountant & soon to be qualified Actuary (fingers crossed)

As for the looking at the Golf GTi Clio 197 etc the insurance quotes for these cars are merely

Its also interesting to see that those who like to make progress in the discussions I have started here tend to rev out rather than use the torque to make the progress, so in effect they are driving the TDi like a petrol which certainly doesnt boast its biggest asset.

Which is?!
