Eventually I Have A Vrs!!!!!!!!

Featured Replies

Hey guys

This is my first post so be kind. I finally after a year and a half of stopping and stalling have got myself a vrs and i love it.

Just got rid of my bright orange fiat grande punto 1.9jtd 130 multijet. 18000 miles in 11 months and nothing but endless problems have meant that i seen sense and bought myself a vrs which i promised myself for so long.

It is an o4 plate with 42000 on it in silver. Feels a lot faster than the punto which i find strange and as far as i know it isnt chipped.

Fancy getting cupra R alloys what do you's think?

Need a re map aswell so thinking i could maybe get 190 bhp/

Anyone else recommend anything to do ?

cheers!

congrats, hope you enjoy....

conversley, I recently got rid of the vRS (80k in two years, new gearbox, new driveshafts, new mounting frame, new EGR valve,(all under warrenty) New control arm bushes (not under warrenty))

AND bought a grande punto sporting (1.9 multijet 130bhp) , up to 15k now, and only problem so far, has been new drop links on the suspension....

we should keep in touch and see if we have opposite cars! lol....

my punto felt slower that the vRS when I got it, so your opinions on that are correct, but I've had the punto remapped since then

as for your mods, PD160 mod, and filter, take the re-map to 180 or you may have issues with the clutch, and apparently the rear ARB is one of the best mods available (I haven't tried it, but hope to play in postmanpats car next time I see him, see if it cures the horrid understeer my vRS had ;) )

Welcome

I love the Cupra Alloys on the Fabia - go for it.

Jabba rear ARB is a must have - Makes the car fun to drive around corners as well as in a straight line.

just back from trax and i would say leave the power alone for now and sort the handling and breaking out on the track my vrs had more thanenough power and not enough grip,to much bodyroll,to much understeer and not enough stopping power and the power couldn't be transfered to the track without spinning the inner wheel on the exits of the slower corners,i have come up with a bit of a wish list after taking some advice and so here it is

jabba rear arb, front upper and lower strut braces, rear upper and lower strut braces, whiteline front arb,kw coiovers,312mm break conversion, toyo r888 tyres, morego front wishbone mod, limeted slip diff and uprated clutch, fmic,pd 160 intake and green cotton filter, uprated turbo, full de cat exhaust system and a custom map all this should make a good vrs pushing over 200bhp this list is not the definetive list of mods but it is my wishlist glad you enjoy the car:thumbup:

cheers for the reply guys.

Some good advice their. I certainly was surprised at the understeer in which the fabia suffers from at times., Build quality is superb although it seems very twitchy at the rear through bends.

As for my punto i loved the look of the car especially becasue mine was orange. Handled very well and build in side was great but i had major problems with the suspension. Spend £1000 getting replacement suspension at christmas due to hitting a pot hole. Fixed that and hit another and it would make a horrible knocking noise until i got rid of that. Rear brakes caused problems with the droning noise which came from them. Now i am not slagging the fiat off because it was a good car so i hope yours goes very well. But my ownership of the fiat was made much worse with the terrible dealer service. Main difference i think is that the punto seems more composed than the vrs but yet the suspension set up lets it down and is a lot harsher than the skoda. Power delivery is completely different and the skoda seems faster but the jtd was still a great engine.

As for problems lets hope i have none and i hope you have none at all.

I think a lot of it is just down to luck and my fiat was one of the unlucky ones. maybe a friday car

the dealer makes a HUGE difference in car ownership in my opinion, I loved my vRS, and only left Skoda bacause of the really bad service I got from skoda UK customer services, and the bad dealers I encountred, I would go back to skoda at the drop of the hat if I could find a decent dealer, (and if the mark II fabia vRS was cheap enough, but at £12k + for a basic diesel, when the punto sporting cost me £11k new, I can't see it ever happening) who I know would look after me, and do warrenty work without complaining.... luckily I have found that with my local Fiat dealer, very small outfit, run by the Dad and Daughter, personal service, and very well looked after........

I think every car manufacturer can have problems, and "friday" cars, but It's how they sort out your problems and look after you , that can make the ownership experiance fun....

hope everything goes well, and this is a GREAT site, a wealth of help and knowledge, and some really good people.... get yourself to a few meets, and have fun :)

how many mods  jjust to make things clear this is my wish list my car is still pretty much standard at the moust buy a decent handling car in the first place?
this is just my wishlist my car is pretty much standard for now:D
how many mods  just buy a decent handling car in the first place?

I agree with your hidden comment ;) For what that lot would cost plus the initial car purchase I could buy a Subaru Impreza Spec C, one of the finest handling and fastest road cars you could ever hope for. As much as I love my little Furby and am enjoying my few mods to date, I won't be throwing any more money at it. When my mortgage will allow it it's Scooby-time again for me :D
