I guess a "UK Tour" would need to include Ireland ;)

Dunno about us "sensible" Skoda drivers doing something for road safety... I mean, some of you guys have got 200+ cars ;)

Oooh! Sounds like fun. Would deffo would be up for it!

I feel like a nice long drive in my new to me Octy!

I would be in however - I wont have a vRS anymore - Is this open to 'Briskoda' or just 'SKODA' ...

I would like to suggest a charity that I worked for last year if I may -

Megan Baker House - Specialists in providing free Conductive Education to children and young adults with Cerebral Palsy, Head Injury or Stroke - About Us

This is a charity for kids - They are the future but it seems that these kids have none - I know Jo and she would be very happy if we did this for her.... I think that they would even provide stickers ect....

Let me know what you think - I would also like to suggest that maybe we end the drive at the centre so you guys can all meet the kids you are actually helping??? Im sure that if we get a sponser form on briskoda going and everyone here gives one pound.... It would help so much..

What do you think? Please have a look at the whole website as it contains alot of information about what other people have done ect and about the charity

There are so many drivers on here that don't have Skodas... I'd say we open it to "Briskoda" as the more drivers that attend... the more cash we could raise for a charity - your idea is great Rob BTW

I'm just waiting for some mods to answer the thread... difficult seeing as they're all in Czech ;)

No problem discussing things and see what all the mods say when they get back

If you do get good feedback from the mods.. and you wish to go ahead with Megan Baker - Give me a shout and I will get everything you need for donations ect.

Im sure that most people will be interested in a charity run - After all Its good to know that you are actually making a difference by helping... Im sure that Jo will do everything she can for briskoda to - I.e A mention on the website and in the megan baker house newsletter!

Good point :)

I like Rob's charity... despite being slightly biased towards Cancer Charitys

My mum died of cancer when I was 11, and my dad is currently undergoing chemotherapy... hence the slant.

I do however think that Megan Baker would be a good choice

Preferences anybody?

Ah fair play - Grandmother died from cancer and a friend has it.. so Im with you there - I must stress that there are many worth while causes so this may have to go to a poll...

It could get nasty :o:rolleyes:

As strongly as I feel about this... I do think a smaller charity like Megan Baker would benefit a lot more from the proceeds.

Plus it would make a big difference too

Yes they are worthy charities, but if joe bloggs wants his charity sick dogs of edingburgh as the charity its not much use to john smith down in lands end trying to get sponsors if you see what i mean??? how about a national charity or maybe we pick half a dozen around the country that the total money is split between?

How about an Ireland invasion?

now that sounds like a plan... not as many speed cameras over here...;)

How about an Ireland invasion?

Sound good :D

If this was the case there is a Ferry deal code I seen knocking about ;)

So a skoda wont float on water?

I think sms has a good idea with splitting all the money its just a question in setting up an account ect so that everyone can pay into.. Im sure there must be lad from devon who is good with maths on here (although I think he is away on a current brisky trip ;) )

Can't be - else he'd have stopped modding a year or three ago :D

Plus, you know what these 'money' guys are like when they get hold of the real thing - tend to disappear behind smoke screen ;)

I would be up for this, sounds like fun!

Been crunching some numbers in my head. (Now it hurts) ;)

From John 'O' Groats to Lands End the distance is 847 miles... meaning that if you got people to sponsor you for say... 1p per mile... you'd make about £8.47 for the whole trip from that one person.

To the individual that doesn't sound like much... but if we had twenty drivers who decided to do the run who got one sponsor each we'd make about £169 give or take...

I'm pretty confident that we'll get more than 20 drivers... and also that we'll get more than one sponsor each :D

Sponsoring this way you'd need to make it affordable... afterall most people don't want to pay a fortune in sponsorship do they :)

Of course that's not including a brief invasion of Ireland in the mix... in which case the mileage would be a lot more ;)

National Charity sounds fair... I think if you concentrate on one charity you could make a big difference rather than splitting the cash... say we make a grand... what's that split five ways  not much!

But this is where arguements start, when no one can agree on a charity. i did suggest a few charities then that way there is less arguements over which charity as we can have a range i.e. cancer research, nspcc, rspca.

Could be time for a poll, one large charity or a few smaller ones..(would suggest no more than five anyway)

it's up to the person who started this thread to decide what to put up

Oh boy

I'll start another thread with a poll in it.

Thought I'd call this the "Brisky Run to the sun '08" until somebody thinks of a better name ;)

Basically day will start like this.

02:00 - Lead car(s) leave John 'O' Groats and travel south towards Glasgow

From various points throughout the UK, cars will begin driving towards linking up with the main group at motorway service stations etc.

Cars will continue south towards Lands End

18:15 - Cars arrive at Lands End.

**This is a long haul drive at just over 16 hours... I don't think anybody could drive this long so we would probably need to have more than one driver in the car/ or we could spread it over a couple of days and camp somewhere overnight.

It's about 847 miles to Lands End from John O' Groats... if you get people to sponsor you for 1p per mile each person would owe no more than £10 (from wherever you started in the UK)

A John O'Groats to Lands End charity run was suggested a few years back, but I don't think it ever happened. The idea of people joining as the convoy moves south is a good one - I doubt I'd be able to do the whole thing, but might be able to manage half of it :)

I like the idea of a round the British Isles tour too, but I think that would be another kettle of fish involving a lot more commitment and and overnight accomodation, etc.

Scotland->NI->RoI->Wales->England (maybe finishing on IoW to keep Pixi happy ;)) would be kinda cool.

Good man -

Right Im going to start off by starting a list of names for people who at this stage are just Interested in doing the run. At this stage I think its only a matter off interest - as it would be better then a list saying who was willing to drive to and from where...

If you intend to do the end to end run and get it recognised by the people who own the two sites you will have to do it overnight to do it in one run and collect reciepts from places on the way ,we had 3 petrol reciepts as it was the only thing we bought on the way!

I did it with the quantum owners about 3 yrs ago (11 cars) and we started from JOG at 2pm and the whole group crossed the finish line at 1pm the following day, some cars did it in 18 hours . We were delayed several hours in edinburgh when one car lost half of its alternator pulley ,we had a spare alternator but no pulley ,local policeman found one for us.

the route we took included the forth and severn bridges so was longer than the recognised route we had minimum 2 drivers per car with insurance for any driver any car and it took the best part of a year to plan ,one police force even told us not to do it as they would consider us as racing and would stop us ,other forces were much more helpful

Run that by me again

Everytime I do something for charity it's at my expense... I don't claim petrol back!

As for racing... this isn't a race... it's just a run for charity.

You are right about driving through the night though... starting in daylight and finishing in daylight would actually be a better idea!

Maybe we had have like 20 official cars running the whole run... and the rest just job in as and when?
