bushes: Cupra R or Powerflex, which ?

Featured Replies

My VRS's wishbone rear console bushes look a bit tired now.

I'm considering uprated replacements; either Cupra R bushes or Powerflex ones. Would replace the front bushes at the same time.

Any advice about which ones to go for will be gratefully received.

Jules

SEAT ones are a good cheap option.

Powerflex for me  not the cheapest though :thumbdwn:

Were they £20 a bush - assume this is the "front, but rear facing" ones - Mine were an MOT advisory for splitting last time around so I'd like to get some too.

Dunno? As with you they were an MOT advisory for splitting so had them changed to Powerflex ones instead. IIRC £165 all fitted.

Both..

Powerflex FRONT wishbone bushes, with cupra REAR wishbone bushes... the powerflex rear items are just inserts for the original bush and dont help if they are already fooked..

any 1 got a link for some power flex bushes i need to do same on me fabia VRS pd 130 to get it through its MOT this week

some bargain links would be handy thanks :)

Looks to be £19.95 + vat for a single rear facing bush.

They look like a complete bush, not an insert.

they have the same part number as the udders

Which are 'udder'ly useless IMHO.

Cupra bushes it is then. I assume it's the PD160 bushes, not the Cupra R ones as indicated in the thread title.

There isnt a MK4 Cupra R.

oh dear :thumbdwn:

PD160 bushes , PD160 is a Cupra , as can be the 20v turbo , but neither are "R"s

But it is IBIZA cupra, not the Leon. :)

I asked Powerflex to clarify exactly what the bushes for the TCA rears and they just gave daft "I know nothing" answers - are these people not just importers of someone elses stuff - they certainly didn't give me any reason to believe they knew the answers to some pretty straight forward questions "see fitting workshop for advice" - that didn't win my order I'm afraid, might be good stuff, but their sales team are U/S. Oh and just one silly bit of advice - make sure that whoever fits them fits them both the correct way round - one of mine is fitted the wrong way round and is slightly not spot on rotationaly, ah well some times you don't get perfection!

these easy to fit yourself or best get a pro to do it?

Need a press to fit them ideally. My mate just got himself a snap-on capable of pushing 2 tons+. Should be sufficient when it comes to swapping my bushes over. :)

Seconded. Driven mine last night properly for the first time with this setup, and I'm very impressed. The old lot were totally spent, so the change in steering feel and handling is amplified i'm sure, but it feels great now.

Just another question on this topic, does anyone know if the Audi A2 TCA front bushes will fit the TCA on the other cars - I see that the Audi has an aluminium TCA but is the hole the same size - these bushes are available as a three part kit so if they are okay size wise, then they would be easy to fit. Its just that its a bit too ackward to remove a TCA destroy the front bush then have to rush off and order some Powerflex ones - on the other hand maybe I should check if Powerflex supply bushes for the A2 and check if its the same number for Fabia etc!

I did wonder that myself.

I checked ETOS and all the bushes have different part numbers to both SEAT and Skoda.

6LL 501 541 appears to be the part number for Ibiza Cupra front (rear facing) bushes. So, is it recommended to get the front facing ones from powerflex then? And can they be swapped over easy enough once the console is off the car as well?

what benefit is there in buying decent bushes??? Does it improve handling or anything?

the front bushes are in the wishbone itself jason.. so the console doesnt need to be touched.

it can be a bit of a pain to get the old bushes out.. altho because the wishbone is quite durable, some creative force can be used (ie big hammer + appropriately sized socket) the powerflex bush then slides in in 2 parts so can be easily replaced in future
