Raging

Featured Replies

Went out to my VRS tonight after my grandaughter (9) said it looked bent

The front grill bonnet and bumper all stove in

Took some photo,s I do not know why, for insurance co I suppose

Next door neighbour came out to see what the flash was, and informed me a

big blue Range Rover Reversed into my car, Guy got out inspected the damage and drove off, did not manage to get reg number

I am just waiting for the police now, not that they can do anything, but it will prove, it was not I, and I will get an incident number for the insurers

I expect I will lose my NCB now,

Angry as I have previously been a company car driver, and have just built my own no claims up over the past three years

National :thumbdwn:

I would be on a range rover hunt if I were you.

That sucks.

That sucks

Check with the other neighbours and see if any of them got a reg number!

apply to the central agency thingy that is there for uninsured drivers and things like this. sorry i cannot help anymore than that but i'm sure someone else will know more :)

Check to see if any of your nearby residents had someone in a range rover visiting them today. If it was reversing near your car, then it was probably on some other business with someone in your neighbourhood. :)

or lost and turning around.

I'd be really pi$$ed off mate.

I feel for ya.

People who damage your car and don't take any responsibility. Bless them.

Based on my experience you need witnesses if you want to go after Range Rover man. I didn't have any and got precisely nowhere, although the other driver didn't have insurance.

I doubt this applies from what you've said but if the damage isn't huge I'd consider not telling the insurance company - if you've got a few quid in the bank for the repair it would probably save you money in the long run.

Find him.

Doesn't matter how, find him. The law will do nothing, they are not interested, Even if they were they are impotent and incapable of getting any sort of resolution from him which is why people don't bother to stop and sort out their own mess.

When you do find him can I suggest a liberal use of brake fluid over as much of said useless ubran assault vehicle. When you have finished with that sick a roadspike through the radiator. I know two wrongs don't make a right, this may seem harsh and violent but your only really trying to protect the environment and other road users by getting such a pathetic vehicle that he obviously can't drive off the road.

People like that should be strung up by their nads and then made to spend at least a month cleaning out comodes in a nursing home.

With their tongues.

Feel for you... had a guy reverse into my grille in a honda CR-V last week... my new grille arrived yesterday... gunna paint it black.

Decron, take it easy on the land rovers... my dad has a freelander and it's one of the most comfortable cars i've ever been in... and has the same rover engine as the 45. better off sticking with the get the guy 'cause he can't drive... not due to the car he did it in.

Blame the player.... not the game.

Well police have been and it is exactly as you said, I now know who it was,but there is nothing I can do legally (It is a regular vistor to the street a landlord carrying out the odd repairs to property)

Police say there is nothing they can do without proof and just because it is a blue rangerover, and is in the area several times a month is not proof

So I asked if I saw the car and it had Yellow paint on it, what then, Still no good

Advised me not to speak to the person just to accept it for what it is

They were more interested in MY Insurance, when I last drove it and at what time I parked it up

I then kept my mouth shut, as did not want to make too certain a link to the damaged rangerover and driver at a later date

The damaged is quite severe, front bumper sprung , grill destroyed, bonnet twisted, head lamp support brackets at top snapped, and the steel bar that goes across the top of lights, with the bonnet lock is pushed back on the nearside about an inch, and that is just a layman looking at it, It must have been some speed as It was the bang that brought the neighbour to the double glazed window to look out and see in the first place, and there is a pile of rust and dirt where the Range Rover was,

Just now I feel Angry and sickened

If you know DEFINITELY absolutely etc, I know what I'd be doing - leave a suitably anonymous typed up note at his property saying either he plays fair and pays up or .....

Barsteward :thumbdwn:

I know exactly how you're feeling. After having mine for 9 weeks, I was leaving for work (Back shift) decided to check the levels with the extra time afforded me. Popped bonnet, walked round to the front only to notice a huge scuff on bumper, I made some enquires and it turned out it was a silver Picasso that had parked in front of mine. Impressive given how little space I'd left, But like you no-one took a note of the number. I've been on the look out for the car since, To no avail. I'm hoping karma intervenes.

Must get mine fixed before the onset of winter!

All the best, Hope it all comes good for you.

And why do people of limited ability insist on driving large cars!

They were more interested in MY Insurance, when I last drove it and at what time I parked it up

And they wonder why people get annoyed

if you know where he lives how about getting a solicitor involved and try and go for the legal avenue... if all else fails leave it a few months and baseball bat his windows out..

The police wont be interested in doing anything without a witness, but your insurers will almost certainly be interested in the details of the vehicle that caused the damage.

IMO the level of damage you describe should leave evidence on the other vehicle which the police would be legally responsible to investigate. Failing to stop / report an accident is an offence. Could your insurers claim the costs from the police if their investigation was seen to be negligent (they failed to gather evidence)? When my neighbours car was hit by a van (reg number was reported) the police here where very keen to prosecute and subsequently successfully got failing to stop and failing to report. The guy was fined £650 and he got a bucketload of points. Of more interest to you, his insurers paid out before the police took it to court, which is why I would notify your insurance of the details. They may be able to press the police for action.

Alternatively, just go see him and beat the cash for repair out of him. The police will take an immediate interest then.

Hope karma pays him up and he dies of cancer, soon but slowly.

Chris

if you know where he lives how about getting a solicitor involved and try and go for the legal avenue... if all else fails leave it a few months and baseball bat his windows out..

English/Scottish law

Small claims could take months:mad:

Bite the bullet phone your insurance if you've got legal protection they might pick up the baton and if your neighbours willing to be a witness all the better for you.

Or Just send "The Boy's" round:thumbup:

And why do people of limited ability insist on driving large cars!

so that they don't hurt themselves when they make a mistake.

If you make a claim, it is in your insurers interest to recover that cost, thier legal people make money out of it as well, so if anyone can move this in your favour, it is the insurers IMO.

If that made any grammatical sense, I might feel bad about saying it but it doesn't so I don't.

What does your old man having a Freelander got to do with an Idiot driving a Wag Mobile? See, what you did there was drew a line of comparison between the guy driving a Range rover and your dad driving a Freelander. Not really in the same league are they especially with a wheezy 45 lump in it

No one NEEDS a RR, they are a luxury item that really has no place. There are plenty of other vehicles that do it cheaper and better. It's a choice that someone would make because they can (And are perfectly entitled to do) and therefore he CHOSE to inconveniance other people by taking up two spaces in the multistory having taken 15 minutes to get it in the space. He chose to burn more fuel in a 300 miles than I do in 1000 miles. He also chose to bump into other cars and drive off. You might think that the stereotype is being overplayed here but we have all seen them, all been stuck behind them, all had to wait for them, all had to spend longer looking for another parking space. 2 days ago I watched an oldish bloke in a Cayenne try to park in Asda, I took him 5 minutes and he still couldn't get it i the lines, he gave up with the wheels over the next space and traffic queued out onto the road. I then watched someone park right up against his drivers door meaning when he came back he had to climb over. Good enough for him, I hope he ruined his suit.

I know if I had an experiance like that I would be giving serious though to my own lack of talent and think about getting a smaller car. Why this seems acceptable to some people is beyond me.

You could ask the question " Would the damage have happened if the guy had been driving a normal vehicle, one designed for urban areas and not a 2 1/2 monster that is an ar5e to drive"... but this would take the thread in a direction it shouldn't be going, so i am going to leave this here.

:iagree:

Plain and simple if he is not willing to pay or denies doing it you can

A) Send the boys round

B) Show the RR what the business end of a sledge hammer can do. :D

Gutless people whom do not take responsibilities for there actions are less than human, and should be treated accordingly.

That's so rude! I know how you feel - someone scraped my car in a car park - not half as badly as yours - but it was a 4WD and they drove off. It's so annoying. People should take responsibility, not just drive off and try to get away with it.

You can do something. You need to inform your insurers and ask them to instruct a forensic engineer to inspect the third party vehicle. That way you can categorically prove that a) the damage matches and B) that the paint transfer is yours.

This happened to me while I was on holiday in Tenerief someone drove into my car back at home and buggered off £800 repair damage and I got stung with the £500 excess (high excess because of my age) no idea who it was so nothing I could do. Luckily that year I had protected NCB so didn't loose them but was £500 down.

It sucks
