2008 Model Naked Bonnet ??

Featured Replies

Yes, it comes with the clips already inserted into the pad (its listed as a 'sound absorber' - £19.56 inc VAT).

Fits in about 1min. Helps to pull the clips half-way out of the pad and then push them back and through into the bonnet pressing.

It DOES seem to make a difference to external noise level when the engine is running - no so sure about internal noise levels, but can't do any harm.

My Elegance Combi picked up on Sat has the sound proofing fitted. 1.9TDi

thats cos it needs it :)

So had anyone ordered one of these under-bonnet heatshields lately? I'm looking at getting one but my dealer says looking at the etka picture, the clips aren't included. Can anyone confirm this or not??

I'll go the other way.

Mine didn't come with clips - they were a separate item.

Ah, but you are in australia. In may be different in the UK.

Mine's naked too! (Ooooh.....)

58 plate. Like the others, I didn't notice any particular extra noise but it does look "unfinished".

Can't imagine the weight makes that much difference to performance!

Only weighs a couple of hundred grammes; insignificant in day to day running.

One point also to consider, on top of the sound proofing issue; anyone thought about whether the sound proofing material will absorb engine heat and thus offer a degree of protection to the paintwork on the bonnet?

So, more to the point, should it actually be there? Does it depend on spec of car? (Mine is Elegance spec.)

Why stop providing it? Can't be a cost matter surely. If we can get them for £20 or so, they must cost Skoda flumpence.

Mine does not have it, the 1.6 sounds like a TDI from the outside, when I stop to open the gate. 58 plate too, will ask the saleing dealer about getting one...

James.

well if anyone actually gets one can they report back to say if you DO need to get the clips or if they're included?

As I reported above, I picked up one on Friday and it DOES include the clips. They come ready-inserted into the pad and its all sealed in a big polythene bag.

Hauptmann - could you post the part code from the invoice please. Many thanks.

Description "SOUND ABSO"

Price £16.56+VAT = £19.46

Is this something you get from a Skoda dealer or do you have to go to VW?

Also, are all (recent) Octy 2 bonnets the same underneath?

Both mine and a friend's came with out sound proofing. Both cars 08 plate. Friend deceided that it should of come with it so, rung up the dealership. They said 08 plates don't come with one so i think he payed about a tenner for one at dealership in Germany

Two days ago I have installed this panel under the bonnet.

Now the car is getting warmed to 90C in about 3 km vs. 4 km without it :D.

I bought it for 25 Euro.

Got mine yesterday. With clips!

Guy from SUK who is fairly high up said that if it's a warranty item it doesn't come with them as you're probably only replacing it cos it's busted but if bought as an independant spare part it should come as full package with clips.

Which it did. :)
