2008 Model Naked Bonnet ??

Featured Replies

Have any of you guys noticed whether or not your 2008 petrol VRS has sound proofing fitted to the underside of the bonnet ? My 2008 model is naked!! I know the pre-2008 models had it fitted. Trying to get the dealer onto it but they seem to keep forgetting about ordering one in FOC, but I'd be interested to know if its just mine (and Makefish who got his sorted by his dealer without any grief).

My 07 doesn't have any sound proofing.

Does seem to be the new thing with them. If I was getting a new one I'd want one fitted.

Tbh, I wouldn't say the car is noisy without it. Plus, saves weight :o and also, with the turbo, on a long run would help keep the engine a bit cooler.

If Stu has it then I want it too!!!!!

If I was that concerned about the soundproofing benefits then I would go and buy a roll of Dynamat.

Seems that its the norm now although I have no idea why  . Like you mention, I asked my dealer to fit it with no issues whatsoever but I'm guessing that most MY2008 are being supplied without it.

Mine doesn't have anything on the bonnet and can't say I'm that bothered or it's noisy.

Less weight to lift and propel - bonus ;)

I'm not bothered other than if it should have it then I want it. For example, I don't use the plastic engine cover and it doesn't do anything but if it didn't have it I'd want it.:P

Although...... when I'm driving I sometimes wish it only came with the one seat so I could be on my own in it driving it like its stolen, rather than the Mrs and 2 kids "coming along for the ride"!;)

I don't think its fitted as standard because it would stop the bonnet deforming correctly if someone was hit by the car.

Petrol Octavias don't have sound proofing, noisey diesels do!

Had the same problem on mine, Thanks stu for pointing it out , talked to the skoda garage in manchester and they said it should be included , now got 1 fitted free of charge

have you seen the thickness of the sound proofing on the diesel? very thin indeed.

But they used to!! :P

But they used to!! :P

Yep. Mine does. :P

Mine is MY2007 56 plate vrs no soundproofing .... when did they stop fitting I wonder

I just changed mine for a 2008 and it did not have sound proofing fitted. Took it back to the dealer and they fitted it FOC due to the sharp edges that where exposed without it. :D

The good old health and safety angle eh!! That's what I'll try.

My 2007 vRS is naked too.

It is easy and cheap to retrofit sound proof, I will do it in a week

Part numbers are:

1Z0863831 - sound proof

1H5863849A - clip (you need a 12 pieces)

The cost of a set (proof+clips) is about 20-30 GBP

I've had a 56 plate Petrol VRS and now have an 07 Diesel VRS, they both had the sound proofing fitted.

Has anyone added sound proofing to an 1.6MPI or FSI? I'm not annoyed by the engine noise, just curious if it makes 30 pounds worth of difference!

I might be wrong....as I have 07 model vrs tfsi and tdi, both with sound proofing!:o

I was wrong. We need only 1Z0863831, clips are included. Today I bought this part only for 820 rubles (~16 GBP) and installed on my vRS.
