Hi All,

Had a look around the site & am very impressed, & its good to find liked minded people also enjoying the best value performance saloon around.

I own a 01 Octavia vRS that I have had 12months now & a very enjoyable 20k miles.

I am now finding myself after a bit more grunt haveing got used to the std 180bhp - I looked around for other cars but for the

Hi Speedie, and welcome to Briskoda

I'm sure some of the experts will be along soon, but in the meantime perhaps this thread from the knowledge base might be worth reading.

the best value performance saloon around.

Being picky' date=' it is actually a hatchback... :)

Are all components in the engine strong enough or do any other parts need upgrading as well as the ECU.

The ECU remaps done by reputable companies should be easily handled by the rest of the car...

Will my mpg be effected much - if I dont get even more lead footed than I am already :-)

It gives you the option of driving sensibly and improving economy, or ragging it and getting a lot worse... :)

As for specifics of companies, I'm sure someone else will have a better idea!

Rob.

Hi Speedie,

Welcome to Briskoda :wave23d:

Check out the 'My Performance' forum for answers to all your questions, particularly the 'What mods are worth doing' sticky at the top.

To answer your q's:

1) The engine's strong enough up to approx. 300bhp IIRC.

2) MPG shouldn't change much, you are more likely to have more lead in your foot though after a remap!

3) There are lots of great manufacturer's, I (like most members of Briskoda) chose the Jabbasport route, couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Come to the National Meet on the 24th, and have a try before you buy - Jabba should be there to to talk too.

Cheers for the welcome & for the info :)

The threads that were pointed out were great.

Does anyone know if there are still places for the track day on the 24th?

I am having a new set of wheels delivered on 24th but if I can rearrange this I will try & make it + if I can get on the track it'd be a good way to scub in the new tryes

Click the link at the very top of the page & follow the instructions - there are still 7 places left for the track

See you there,

Andy

My new wheels & tyres are arriving Friday & managed to blag the day off work to fit em.

All booked up for the track session on 24th  looking forward to meeting some of you there

Might not be wise to fit the new wheels if you plan to go on track ;)

And welcome

Unfortunatly dont have a chioce about putting on the new ones , currently have 2 very illegal front tyres & a repaired punture on 1 rear ( dont fancy any track driving with a repaired punture )

I'll be taking it relitavly easy though so not to kill a new set of tryes off too

quickly.

Best not let our resident SDi racer (hi Jon  ) near your wheels then, he likes eating other people's new tyres on track days

Cheers for the warning :)

Welcome, Speedie.

Welcome Speedie to Briskoda.

welcome Speedie,

Jabba is the way to go,they'll be a lot of us there with re-mapped Octy's so you'll have no problem getting a go in one if you want to see the difference.

and the difference is fantastic, couldn't praise Jabba enough for there knowledge, service and help.

BOOK IT IN!!!!!!!

Personally, I'd run with the illegal tyres on on track. New tyres aren't much cop on track. They overheat due tot he amount of tread and you do get a lot of tread block squirm. Don't worry, I won't "borrow" them, I'll have 2 sets there anyway.

Oh and welcome to the site :wavey:

Speedie well done for signing up so promptly - you are an example to the dally-ers

Hi and Welcome!

There will indeed be a fair few Jabba-ed cars at Brunters....also cars fettled by AmD, APR and REVO.

I'm sure the respective owners will be more than happy to take you on a runs or two.

If you decide upon Jabba, PM me as I have a couple of places left on our latest Group Buy......10% off the normal remap price.

Cheers.

Adrian.

He means 10% OFF ....

Ooops.....thanks Chaps! :o

10% discount of the normal remap price.
