What do you use...??

Featured Replies

hi guys and gals just wondered what you all use to clean your seats in your cars - (not the leather bit obviously) but the middle parts of them just found them to be a bit akward to scrub and get clean without making them look worse or soaking wet - they dont get that dirty just like to keep them nice and bright have tried varoius products but nothing i like so wanna see what you lot rccommend p.s yes a typical woman question about cleaning i know lol !! xx sadie lou :P p.s do you use the same stuff on the carpets too winters looming and so are dirty shoes on the light grey carpets arrrggghhh

Have you got a Vax type cleaner? I use one of them and it works great. I use some stuff I got from a website called fabriclean in conjunction with it. Autobrite Direct - Because Looks Are Everything! i think. for the doorcards I use a damp microfibre with a spray of this on as and when I need it. Ive got a gallon left, if you want a bit to try let me know.

There were a lot of reports of people having a lot of success with Shout (was at Tesco for £1.08 at the time, spray gun).

Do a search - though 'Shout' will probably come up rather too often in the Search results.

I just use a bit of carpet cleaner in a bucket and a rag. You have to do the whole seat or the water mark spreads across the rest of the fabric.

I know it doesn't use any expensive chemicals but it does a good job and its cheap.

p.s

I work on a pig farm so i have to clean the insides quite a bit.

I am considering buying a new set of non vRS OEM mats in a dark colour to help protect the carpets during winter (however I don't remember having much of a summer!)

I think the vRS mats cost around £100. standard Octavia mats around £20

I use a VAX to clean the cloth seats and carpets. I got a diluted mixture of the VAX cleaing fluid and put it into a spray bottle, sprayed it on the upholstery, rubbed it in gently and then sucked it with the VAX fitted with the narrow nozzle. Seats come out almost like new. Having the light colour carpet in the Octy and SWMBO using it for work carrying kids about creates havoc with a perfectly clean car....

Vax AAA for me as well. I use it far too strong but it gets the job done every time

I know this proved to be quite popular and it does do the job (got a stain out of my rear seat in one application) But I'd be cautious about using it as a general cleaner. On the back of the pack it states to A) not let it dry and B) to wash the fabric after use. Neither of which you can stick to when using it on your seats... unless they will fit in your washing machine :P

Might be me worrying about nothing but I can see you ending up with a residue or build up if you use it too often

Try a steamer

Autoglym car seat foaming cleaner does a top job as does a VAX

I had my upholstery and carpets "Scotch Guarded" by the dealer when new. Judging by all the comments about the difficulty in keeping the pale grey interior of the vRS clean, it was well worth the expense. 4 years and 80,000 miles and the interior is as good as new. Only the occassional wipe over with a damp cloth is all that is necessary. Any mud on the carpets is left to dry and the quite simply hoovers off! I feel quite smug now:D

I think :finger: lol

Ive tried lots of different cleaners but not had much sucess:thumbdwn: . I recently bought a steam cleaner from polti it was £100 but it has many uses around the home too. This thing works a treat and you can use it on the interior and exterior i.e alloy wheels and engine bay without any harmfull chemicals just the power of steam. Try ebay thats where i got mine brand new and saved about £50.:)

Vanish Oxi Action worked great for me. But as martziniuk said, you have to do the whole seat.
